D7200 Cable Requirements

Glennjeff

Question

What cables will I need to quire to make backyard Nikon work with my Nikon D7200, apart from the OEM usb cable. I do not want to use BackyardNikon for anything other than scheduling bulb shutter release in conjunction with PHD2's dither function. Maybe Live view focussing also. I don't want a piece of software that insists on doing everything. Please advise.

Sorry to drege up an old thread, but this seemed like the best place to pose my question.

The cable provided by Nikon for the D7200 is very short.  It looks like a plain vanilla USB cable to me, and I wonder if it is OK to use one of the several other (longer) USB cables I have lying around?

Thanks.

Yes it should be fine provided you stay under 15 feet, otherwise an active repeater cable is required.

Regards.
