Question

BackyardEOS reports ambient temperature (30deg C here in Melbourne recently) rather than the cooled sensor temperature of my CentralDS modified 40D. Unfortunately I can't verify the actual sensor temperature as the digital thermometer provide by CentralDS doesn't work anymore. I know the sensor is cooling well below ambient because the thermal noise in long exposures with the cooling unit off disappears when the cooling is switched on. Is the camera somehow reporting from a sensor in an uncooled part of the body?
