licence key / identifier validation window hanging

hi, just downloaded the trial..trying to validate my licence key and it hangs..the validation dialog is stuck in the middle of the screen..any ideas?   is the validating server down?

oops, was a bad usb cable, camera is connecting now

Not suppose to be down, it is hosted on the same server as the website and this forum

 

Do you have access to the Internet on the PC you are trying to validate?

 

I just checked and you key is valid.

 

Go in c:\users\<<username>>\AppData\ and delete the file BackyardEOSv31-license.txt.

 

The AppData folder is a Windows hidden folder by default do make sure Windows is set to show hidden files and folders.

still no luck..machine is connected to the internet, deleted the .txt file too

Try with 3.1.5.

one more thing...do I have to install EOS utility to get byeos to connect to the camera?  right now it's not finding it but I have no Canon software installed

No you don't, but the camera should not be connected to any other software.

 

Does windows see the camera?

 

What camera model to you have and which Canon drivers do you choose in BackyardEOS when connecting your camera?

This is odd.  Did you try rebooting your computer?  I'm curious if 3.1.6 would work after a reboot.

camera is a canon 70d, windows doesn't seem to see it either.

rebooted, still couldn't get  3.1.6 to work..had to uninstall and go to 3.1.5

Glad you got it to work.  Yeah, first thing to do is always check the cable and verify if Windows sees the camera

uninstalled 3.1.5 and re-installed 3.1.6 and it works now
