Support for the latest Canon EOS SDK

kshirg

Question

I’m currently using a newer Canon RF body (EOS R100), and I understand that recent Canon cameras rely on updates to Canon’s EDSDK for full third-party compatibility. I wanted to ask, if there is an update planned (or under consideration) for BackyardEOS to support the newer Canon EOS SDK versions?

I completely understand the challenges involved in tracking Canon’s SDK changes and appreciate the work that goes into maintaining compatibility across so many camera models. Just wanted to get a sense of what might be possible going forward.

had you tried connecting your camera to the latest pre-release?

It will not connect, but you should be getting something like this displayed in the message center, send me those numbers; they will tell me your model is supported by the current SDK, and we'll take from there.

This confirms the Canon SDK compiled with 3.5.0-RC9 does not support the R100.

20:49:08  YOUR *REAL* MODEL NUMBER IS 4294967294(FFFFFFFE)

Give me a few days, I'll see if Canon has released a new SDK supporting this model.

Regards
