5Ds questions

dts350z

Question

I had someone show up at my astroimaging workshop last night with a Canon 5Ds.

I don't see it on the support grid, but we attached it to my rig to try.

First issue was it has a USB 3 connector, but I came up with a USB 2.0 micro cable, which fits in one half of USB 3.0 connectors (making them backward compatible).

Next issue was to turn off the advanced setting in BYE for "don't ask for driver selection", then I had multiple choices that seemed to overlap as to digic V and picked the one that seemed to be specific to digic V. Not sure if that is correct for that model.

Got BYE to connect, but the shutter wouldn't fire (tried camera in both bulb and manual) however firing the shutter on the camera itself did load pictures into BYE.

The 5Ds is not on the grid because it is not supported at this time.

Send me the log file where you had it connected and I may be able to make it work.  But until then it will never work regardless of the Canon drivers of select in BYE.

Regards,
