heads up: QDSLR dashboard breaks BYE and EOS Utility

Question

While doing a presentation for my club on timelapse, I became aware of QDSLR dashboard, with has a special feature for doing "holy grail" timelapses with LRTimelapse.

A Heads up in that this program communicates with Canon and Nikon cameras via PTP, vs. Canon SDK, etc., and requires that you overwrite the Camera's windows driver with "Winusb".

Be aware that if you do that, Backyard EOS, EOS Utility and likely any other camera control program will stop working.

Uninstalling the driver is a little tricky. If you don't check the right box at the right time it will keep reinstalling itself every time you plug in the camera, preventing you from running BYE etc. even if you say "update driver".

This page has the driver unistall instructions: https://github.com/pbatard/libwdi/wiki/FAQ#Zadig

So, if you are going to checkout qdslr dashboard for it's LRTimelapse screen be aware of the above. I guess it may apply to windows + Nikon as well, but I don't have a Nikon so...

That's a Good Heads-up!!  Thanks...

Nighttime Timelapses are quite often an Interest for those who also do AP Imaging, so there might be some number of BYE/BYN users who would trip into this Conflict.

Perhaps as a user of qDSLRDashboard, you could also post this Warning onto their Support Site.

Or even make the Suggestion that they find a way to NOT have such an "Aggressive" Driver Installation routine.

Exposure Ramping isn't something with Direct Application to the AP Imaging market that BYE/BYN serves, but perhaps at some point in the Future Guylain might entertain adding such a feature to the BYE/BYN Feature List.

Of course, there is much more to high-end Timelapse Software such as Track/Slew Motor Control and Aperture/ISO/Focus Ramping which have less connection to traditional BYE/BYN Features, so BYE/BYN would never replace such Software.  But...
