Connection issue with 350D

Blaine

Question

I just DL'd a trial version of BYE.  I have been regularly using my 350 D Rebel for several years and it has worked fine recently.  I have a fresh battery and it seems to work well with DSLR Shutter (it takes an image) when connected with the Mini USB and shutter cable.

I have a Windows 7 machine (32 bit) and it runs PHD and imaging programs fine.

My camera does not connect with BYE.

Any suggestions?

Blaine

You need to install the drivers that came with it on the CD for Windows to see the camera in anything other than PTP mode.

DSLR shutter does not connect to camera, it simply triggers the shutter using the serial cable and this is why it is working.

Find the CD, install the drivers, and it should work since you have W7 32 bits.  I have tried that scenario several times and it does work.

Keep us posted,

I hacked around, tried different shutter settings (COM 1, GPUSB, etc.) started, stopped and restarted EOS Utility and got it all to work.

Now I don't know what I did that was successful.  Remember that I have been using EOS Utility and Zoom Browser for years successfully (on this machine).

The driver that seems to be loading says "210".
