bulb didn't work on D5100

Question

Everything connected fine except for capturing bulb images.Tested cable...no shutter release.Force use serial cable in settings...still no shutter.Attached logs

Hey I also have Steve's cable and the D5100 and have had bulb issues before, and the root of the problem is when I don't follow Steve's instructions explicitly. Something gets tripped up if you don't wait ten seconds after letting BYN initialize Nikon drivers and then turning on the camera. However I've never had any issues if I follow the instructions to the letter.  Or if you sometimes use a different USB port that could also potentially cause a problem. 

 

Anyhow hope the info helps.

Hey Steve,

 

That red crescent shape indicator is something I never knew was on there...I never used the hand control button with slider in fear of messing something up..if the button was pressed and locked when you received it,I'm guessing it happened somewhere in the shipping process
