    Astrodon: Simplify Your Imaging!
Astrodon LRGB Gen2 E-Series Tru-Balance Filters were designed for cameras containing the full-frame KAF8300, KAF3200, KAF6303, KAF16200, KAF16803 sensors, as well as most Sony and back-thinned sensors.

Astrodon LRGB Gen2 E-Series Tru-Balance filters have revolutionized CCD imaging. Their popularity is due to their ease-of-use, high optical throughput and great resulting colors for galaxies, star clusters and nebulae.

E-Series filters are designed to approximately equalize the flux of red-sensitive full-frame (formerly Kodak E-Series) CCD detectors, including compensation for the solar photon flux. This means that your RGB color combine weights will be approximately 1:1:1 within perhaps 10% for equal length exposures.  This can never be perfect, but it does allow you to take one exposure time for all of your RGB data and therefore, only just one corresponding dark exposure time.  Again, this saves you precious imaging time and thus, simplifies your imaging.

The E-Series filters were designed for cameras containing the full-frame KAF8300, KAF3200, KAF6303, KAF16803 sensors. They are also a good choice for the latest Sony and back-thinned sensor.  The E-Series red filter is a deep red filter about 60 nm wide, which excludes much of the light pollution from high pressure sodium street lamps. Other filter suppliers try to “force fit” their orange filter (designed for the interline KAI11000, KAI2000 sensors) for use with these full-frame sensors. Their orange filter (see below)  is about twice as wide spectrally as our deep red filter.  As a result, their orange filter tends to “wash out” HII regions in galaxies and detail in nebula. Their blue and green color weights are no longer balanced and as a result, the OIII color in planetary nebula is skewed strongly toward blue, rather than the correct teal color. These are the reasons why Astrodon designed E- and I-Series filters for these different classes of cameras for optimum results.

    SPECIFICATIONS

Enhanced contrast for HII regions in galaxies due to narrower red (not orange) filter
Spectral “gap” between green and red filters to minimize effect of light pollution, especially from high pressure sodium street lamps (see spectra)
Highest efficiency blue filter with less UV
Correct “teal” OIII color for planetary nebula (OIII signal >97% in blue and green)
Parfocal with Astrodon‘s high-performance narrowband, Clear and Near-IR Luminance filters
Ultra-hard and durable sputtered coatings coated to the edge of each filter
    Proudly made in the U.S.A.
Notice that Astrodon filters are coated to the edge. Other filters leave an uncoated “rim” (see below)  near the edge that must be blocked by a mask or the design of the filter wheel.  Our approach minimizes stray light from polluting your image.

Astrodon LRGB Gen2 I-Series Tru-Balance Filters were designed for cameras containing the Interline KAI11002, KAI16000, sensors.

    Astrodon LRGB Gen2 I-Series Tru-Balance Filters
Astrodon LRGB Gen2 I-Series Tru-Balance Filters are designed to approximately equalize the flux of  Interline CCD detectors (formerly Kodak), including compensation for the solar photon flux.  The I-Series filters compensate for the lower red response of these Interline detectors affecting the design of the Green and Red filters.  The Luminance and Blue filters are the same as those in our E-Series.

Atik Cameras: The EFW3 gives you more freedom and convenience to your imaging set up.

For a large format wheel, the EFW3 boasts a slim, lightweight design. It measures 238×213mm dimensions and weighs in at just approx. 850g. This is great news for large format set ups where weight can be a real concern. That said, the wheel is fully compatible with any Atik camera when using the supplied M54 or M42 adaptors. We’ve simplified the technical side of the design from the EFW2 to further improve reliability and minimise component wear and tear. However, it's still machined from solid aluminium to produce a durable and quality wheel that will keep turning, night after night.

Atik 16200 users will also be pleased to know that the EFW3 can either be attached directly to the camera as it is, or after removing the front plate to further minimise any backfocus requirements. With the front plate attached, the backfocus is 41.5mm, while the backfocus with the front plate removed is just 34.5mm.

On the software side of things, the EFW3 has a full ASCOM driver, so any complaint software can be used to control it. Additionally the EFW3 can be controlled using our Artemis Capture software, for simple and efficient operation

Astrozap: Made from light, 0.040" thick aluminum, this powder-coated white solar filter cell fits telescopes with an outside diameter range of 145 mm to 155 mm and features Baader AstroSolar™ safety film for eye protection when viewing the sun. Solid threaded inserts and nylon thumbscrews guarantee secure attachment.

The Sun appears in colorless white with Baader AstroSolar™ safety film. Other films as well as some glass filters generate a blurry bluish or reddish Solar image, thereby reducing the spectrum. With an orange sun especially, it can be difficult to locate faculae regions which are detectable primarily in the blue spectral region.

AstroSolar film, due to its neutral color balance, permits the use of an assortment of color (or interference) filters to allow the viewer to focus on certain spectral passbands for inspections of distinct solar "atmosphere" layers.

AstroSolar™ is virtually pinhole-free due to it being coated on each side, making the possibility of two overlapping pinholes extremely unlikely. Some glass filters don't always have coatings on both sides, even some of the more expensive filters. Pinholes do appear, however, but in only 1 out of 10,000 and only in optical density 2.5! Germany's National Bureau of Standards, the PTB, has approved Baader AstroSolar™ film for eye safety. Contrary to other available solar filters, AstroSolar™ film is CE-tested per EG-Norm 89/686 and EN 169/92 (notified body 0196). All processes associated with this product have been tested exhaustively. Coatings are scrutinized regularly for consistency to guarantee safety for your eyes.

Astrozap: AstroSolar is one of the best solar filters on the market today!

AstroSolar has been thoroughly tested for eye safety and has been approved by the National Bureau of Standards in Germany.

AstroSolar is essentially free from pinholes.
Baader AstroSolar is unlike any other solar filter on the market! The sun appears in neutral white when using AstroSolar providing and exceptional observing experience. Other films and some glass filters produce blurry reddish or bluish Solar images which in turn cuts part of the spectrum. Faculae regions, which are visible mostly in the blue wing of the spectrum, are very hard to see with an orange sun. Because of the neutral color balance of AstroSolar, you can use various color (or interference) filters. This allows observers to focus on certain spectral passbands for investigations of different layers within the solar "atmosphere".

The uniqueness of Baader AstroSolar is not only in its ability to observe the sun using one of the best filters out there but also because of the dedication in making it one of the safest filters around. All processes in correlation to this product have been carefully tested and coatings are continuously inspected for consistency to ensure your eye safety. Further more, the National Bureau of Standards in Germany, the PTB has approved Baader AstroSolar for eye safety.

AstroSolar is essentially free from pinholes. Because of the coating on both sides, the probability of two pinholes overlapping each other is tremendously faint. There can be a time when pinholes do appear but to 1 out of 1000 only in optical density 2.5! Baader AstroSolar film Filter cell is constructed of lightweight 18Ga. aluminum and powder coated white. To ensure a secure fit, the Filter cell has heavy duty threaded inserts and nylon thumbscrews.

Astrozap: With AstroSolar™ the Sun appears in neutral white. Other films and some glass filters produce a blurry bluish or reddish Solar image, thereby cutting part of the spectrum. Especially with an orange sun, it is very hard to see faculae regions which are visible predominantly in the blue wing of the spectrum.

Due to it's neutral color balance, AstroSolar enables the use of various color (or interference) filters which allows the observer to concentrate on certain spectral passbands for investigations of different layers within the solar "atmosphere".

AstroSolar™ is essentially free from pinholes, since - other than with even the most expensive glass filters - it is coated on both sides, so that the chance of two pinholes overlapping each other is extremely faint. Pinholes do appear, but to 1 out of 10000 only in optical density 2.5! Baader AstroSolar™ safety film has been approved for eye safety by the National Bureau of Standards in Germany, the PTB. Unlike any other Solar Filter on the market, AstroSolar™ is CE-tested according to EG-Norm 89/686 and EN 169/92 ( notified body 0196). All processes connected to this product have been thoroughly tested. Coatings are inspected constantly for consistency to ensure your eye safety!

Astrozap: Astrozap has taken their excellent quality filter design into the solar field with stunning results! These full aperture white light solar filters are designed to provide the safest possible solar experience while still permitting the majority of safe light through for your enjoyment. The full aperture allows the most optimal daytime viewing possible so long as atmospheric turbulence remains minimal. One of the main benefits of full aperture filters like this is that they are designed to permit you to make use of the full aperture of the telescope they are attached to, avoiding any reduction of your field of view or other hindrances that might arise with other filter types, which obscure some of your telescopes original aperture. As a full aperture filter, Astrozaps premium glass solar filters utterly avoid that issue; letting you unleash your telescopes full power at the sun!

This premium solar filter uses an aluminum cell as the frame- a cell that is meant to be smoothly attached to the end of your optical tube with nylon thumb screws and felt padding. These filters then make use of hand picked, thouroughly inspected optical glass of the highest quality available and coatings meant to ensure not only maximum reflectivity, but also the durability to last. These glass filters render the sun a natural-appearing orangeish hue, letting you see the sun in the pallet of hues we traditionally associate with the sun. The filter box is foam lined for protection and shock absorption during handling, and is durable enough to store the filter while not in use.

    • The Astrozap 41-48mm OD Full Aperture Glass Solar Filter is a premium quality solar filter available at an affordable price! These splendid filters allow you to make full use of your telescopes power due to their full aperture design, while remaining safe for solar use when handled properly.
    • The Astrozap 41-48mm OD Full Aperture Glass Solar Filter is composed of hand picked and heavily inspected glass of the highest quality, manufactured in the USA and designed for safe and fun solar astronomy.
    • The Astrozap 41-48mm OD Full Aperture Glass Solar Filter is sized with an OD of 41-48mm, making that the range of aperture that is optimal for scopes to make use of it. This makes this particular model of Astrozaps solar filter lines best for use with scopes like the older models of the Celestron Firstscope 60, view finders, cameras, other small refractors, spotting scopes, and even binoculars.
