Astro Hutech: Light pollution suppression (LPS) filters are designed to suppress the common emission lines generated by artificial lighting, yet allow the important nebula emission lines to pass, thus enhancing the contrast of astronomical objects, particularly emission nebulae.

Unlike other light pollution suppression filters, IDAS filters are specifically designed for balanced color transmission using the IDAS unique Multi-Bandpass Technology (MBT) process. The balanced transmission allows color photographs to be taken with minimal color cast to broadband emission objects such as stars, galaxies and globular clusters. The comparison photos at right demonstrate (qualitatively) that the IDAS filter maintains better color balance than other filters which have been designed for visual use.

LPS filters utilize the unique IDAS Ion Gun Assisted Deposition (IGAD*) coating technology for superior coating durability (quartz hardness) and safer cleaning. IGAD coatings also improve temperature and humidity stability of the filter performance, reducing spectrum shifts down to +/-1nm from the +/-3 or 4nm shift of standard coatings.

CCD imaging can also benefit, because although CCD imagers can already shoot through light pollution to some extent, including an LPS filter to the setup gives an added (signal-to-noise) edge

Note, however, that light pollution suppression filters are not a perfect substitute for dark skies.

USED ITEM: Moravian Instruments: G2 cameras were designed for demanding scientific applications and for high-end astrophotography. Very high quantum efficiency (more than 85% in the case of G2-3200 camera) allows capturing of very faint objects. High quality electronics provides uniform images without artifacts and the read noise is limited by the CCD detectors themselves. Regulated cooling of CCD up to 50ºC below ambient temperature significantly reduces detector dark current. Cameras have integrated filter wheel with 5 positions for 1.25" filters in threated cells or with 6 positions for glass-only filters and mechanical shutter.

G2-0400, G2-1600 and G2-3200 cameras with non-ABG Kodak KAF CCD chips are suitable for scientific applications, requiring both high quantum efficiency and linear response to light.

G2-2000 and G2-4000 cameras with Kodak KAI CCD chips with ABG are suitable for astrophotography — anti-blooming of KAI CCDs eliminates charge blooming when bright stars appear in the field of view.

G2-8300 camera with Kodak KAF CCD with ABG, also suitable for astrophotography, especially in combination with telescopes with smaller focal length due to small pixels and large resolution.

Moravian Instruments: G3 cameras can be equipped with CCD detectors up to 24 × 36 mm. Precisely regulated and efficient cooling of the CCD more than 50C below ambient temperature allows quality image calibration. There are mechanical shutter and filter wheel with 5 positions for 2 inch filters inside the camera head with some packages, so these cameras can be used in unattended, robotic setups. CCD chips Kodak KAF with linear response to light are suitable for scientific applications. Large area of these detectors fits long focal length of big telescopes. Large pixels ensure high image dynamic range. Astrophotographers appreciate Kodak KAI detectors with ABG and electronic shutters. Anti-blooming ensures round images of bright stars, which cannot be avoided especially on wide-field images. Electronic shutter then allows short exposure times, necessary e.g. for capturing of fast moving objects.

Officina Stellare: The Officina Stellare Veloce RH 300 is an extremely fast, wide field, 11.8" Riccardi-Honders Astrograph.

USED ITEM: Gemini Snap/Flat Cap included ($1000 value), custom-made travel/flight case included ($1500 value).

Overview of the RH Veloce Telescopes:

The RH Veloce is a really unique design, and uses several unique solutions, created by Riccardi and Honders. The RH Veloce uses a double front lens that is weakly convergent, and the primary mirror is a Mangin mirror (from the name of its French inventor). A Mangin mirror is a mirror that is coated on the back surface, not on the front. The light passes through the glass, is reflected by the coating and then passes again through the glass. For this reason, a Mangin mirror is called a refractive-reflective optical element, and opens exciting possibilities to optical engineers. This complex design includes also a corrector group before the focal plane, achieving performances impossible otherwise, with extraordinary fast photographic performances over wide focal planes.

A curiosity about the RH Veloce: since the double frontal lens is convergent, the Mangin mirror is smaller than the nominal diameter of the scope, while the meniscus itself is bigger than the nominal diameter, to ensure a good illumination over the wide field of view of such scopes. For example, the 200 mm model has a 220 mm meniscus and a 190 mm primary mirror. The secondary mirror is a separated piece of glass, or it is made coating the middle of the meniscus, depending on model.

The RH Veloce frontal lens is made in Germany under Officina Stellare specifications.

Veloce in Italian means fast, to indicate its primary vocation: to be a great astrograph capable of stunning performance.

A big evolution step of the iconic Veloce RH200 AT: You can now expect an even better large field photographic performance thanks to an innovative light baffles coating. It will give you a much better reduction of ghosts and scattered light.

The Veloce RH 300 AT offers an incredible fast f/3 focal ration with a 60mm corrected field, small stars, great transportability, great optics and great mechanics: this is the best professional astrograph to reach new horizons!

Officina Stellare developed the Veloce RH 300 AT without compromises both on mechanically and optical, using only premium materials (alluminium 6061/7075, titan, bronze, stainless steel, carbon fiber) and CNC machines to work parts from solid blocks. This offers the best precision available in the market today. When they selected the materials for each Veloce RH 300 AT component, Officina Stellare considered the derivated problems from thermic dilatation and environmental conditions. This makes the RH 300 AT stronger and capable to get the best performance every time it’s used, providing a stable focal plane, fundamental when operating with a so fast focal ratio, thanks to a athermal design.

The Veloce RH 300 AT is still transportable with a weight of only 28kg and convenient to use thanks to compact size and great mechanic. Three fans helps to reach the right working temperature for the primary mirror.

The corrected and illuminated field is 60mm. If the user needs to compensate the small misalignment in the imaging train, is possible to adjust the planarity of the focal plane with 4 screws located on the back plate.

Collimation is not only stable, but also intuitive: primary mirror cell has 3 points with large diameter preloaded cup springs (one for each point) operated from oversized bolts. What’s the advantage of this new solution? Well, you only have to rotate right/left each bolt to reach the collimation. No more difficult pull/push screws and locking screws as well.

Light scattering are avoided with a circular mask placed on mirror borders. Inside light shield Officina Stellare uses micro baffles, combined with special opaque dark painting and flocking, nearly to zero the possibilities to get stray light.

The Veloce RH 300 AT offers an incredible fast f/3 focal ration with a 60mm corrected field, small stars, great transportability, great optics and great mechanics: this is the best professional astrograph to reach new horizons!

The RH 300 AT is a real astrograph, designed to be the best companion of advanced amateurs and professional.

ZWO Optical: ASI2400MC Pro uses Sony latest back-illuminated IMX410 full frame format 14-bit ADC sensor. It is a 24MP camera with a big pixel size of 5.94um that can accommodate a super large well depth of 100ke.
The First CMOS Astro Camera Which Adopts Sony IMX410 Sensor
ASI2400MC Pro uses Sony’s latest back-illuminated IMX410 full-frame format 14-bit ADC sensor. It is a 24MP camera with a big pixel size of 5.94um that can accommodate a super large well depth of 100ke.

With the ultra-low readout noise of 1.1e and amazing zero amp-glow, the ASI2400MC Pro is born to be another great innovation of ZWO in the field of full-frame cooled OSC astro cameras.
    Full Frame OSC Camera
The ASI2400MC Pro uses full-frame format, the sensor length and width are 36mm * 24mm and the diagonal is 43.3mm. For now, it only has the OSC version, which is very suitable for beginner astrophotography.
    IMX410 Backlit Sensor
The back-illuminated CMOS sensor improves sensitivity and noise reduction – the key factors to enhancing image quality, while radically realigning their fundamental pixel structure from front-illumination to back-illumination. It has retained the advantages of CMOS image sensors such as low power consumption and high-speed operation.

With a conventional front-illumination structure, the metal wiring and transistors on the surface of the silicon substrate that form the sensor’s light-sensitive area (photo-diode) impede photon gathering carried out by the on-chip lens. A back-illuminated structure minimizes the degradation of sensitivity to optical angle response, while also increasing the amount of light that enters each pixel due to the lack of obstacles such as metal wiring and transistors that have been moved to the reverse of the silicon substrate.

    Camera Performance:
Large well depth capacity, low read-out noise and high dynamic range.

Though these two cameras share very similar pixel sizes (5.94um vs 5.96um), the well depth capacity of ASI2400MC Pro is 100ke, which is 132% of another full frame ASI camera ASI128MC Pro, so ASI2400MC Pro comes with ultra-high a dynamic range up to 14stops. Upon that, overexposure probability will be reduced, with richer color gradation gained.

When the gain value is 140, the magical HCG high gain mode is turned on, the readout noise is greatly reduced (as low as 1.1e), and the dynamic range is basically unchanged.
    Anti-Dew
ASI2400MC Pro comes with the polyimide heater that can avoid any dew problems.

The anti-dew heater which completely fit the protective window will heat it to avoid any dew problems.

The heat anti-dew heater power is around 5W and can be turn off in software to save power.
Two-Stage TEC Cooling: Ultra-Low Dark Current
ASI2400MC Pro uses two stage TEC cooling that can lower the CMOS sensor temperature to more that 35c below ambient, which can greatly reduce dark current generation and sensor noise even with extended exposure times.

The unique dark current suppression technology can even further reduce dark current noise. When it’s cooled to -20℃, the current noise can be as low as 0.00035e/s/pix, which is completely negligible!
Note:ASI2400 Pro camera requires 1A current from the USB, if your PC can not provide enough current, please use an external 12V power supply to power the camera.

    USB3.0 & 256M DDR3 Memory
The ASI2400MC Pro is equipped with a USB 3.0 transmission interface and a built-in 256MB(2Gb) DDR3 cache to ensure stable and secure data transmission. Under long exposure, it effectively avoids frame dropping and greatly reduces the glow effect caused by slow reading speed.
