Takahashi America: The Epsilon series of astrographs are specifically designed for exceptional astrophotography.  Takahashi’s proprietary optical design features a hyperbolic, concave primary mirror with a 2 element ED corrector lens to eliminate spherical aberration and coma.  Compared to the conventional Schmidt camera design, the chromatic aberration is reduced by half, even out to large viewing angles.

The new ε-130D is the same aperture as the original but now uses a digital corrector. This corrector produces improved sharpness and a 1/3rd reduction in the size of the spot equaling the spot size of the E-180 at the edge producing a 44 mm diameter circle. The offset secondary insures better illumination of the image formed by the primary.

The ε-130D has a 5.9° field of view which is perfect for imaging wide field objects like comets and objects with extended nebulosity. With a speed of f/3.3 and a focal length of 430mm the ε-130D will shorten exposure times, increase color saturation and will produce wide field high performance images.

The E-160ED reflecting telescope has an aperture of 160 mm and a focal length of 530 mm and provides a well corrected flat field for full frame imaging sensors.

Thorough aberration correction is realized by by optimizing the interaction of the hyperbolic mirror and the corrector. By using ED glass in the corrector, a spot image within 3 μm has been achieved at the periphery of a full frame imaging sensor. The E-160ED combines the ease of handling of the E-130D  with the high performance of the E-180ED.

The eccentric oblique mirror and the spider vane design are used to suppress the scatter of light similar to the current epsilon models. The method of holding the primary mirror uses the same system as E-180ED. The optical axis adjustment screw of the primary mirror has a structure in which push screws are arranged on both sides of the pull screw. The central cover can be removed to allow for rapid temperature acclimation. NOTE: The corrector for the E-160ED cannot be used with the older E-160 OTA. Price includes OTA only. Mount, tripod, finder and camera sold separately.

The ε-180 was introduced by Takahashi as the first of the new Epsilon flat–field hyperbolic astrographs since the 1980’s. The ε-180 was designed to be a very fast f/2.8 imaging system.

This fast field photo visual astrograph is perfect for digital SLR's and CCD cameras.  The f/2.8 speed will enable the imager to record faint nebulosity not visible in slower instruments.  In addition, the appreciably shorter exposure times reduce tracking error and will produce pin point stars. The ε-180 will produce 10 micron stars across the entire 44 mm diagmer flat 5 degree field.

The focuser has been improved to allow more precise focusing. Each has a metal insert with a special non-cold flow material to allow for correct focus.

In this doublet design, Takahashi has paired the fluorite element with a low dispersion glass having a high refractive index.  This combination provides excellent optical performance across the entire visible spectrum with a Strehl ratio in excess of 97.6
The FC-100DZ is a fluorite doublet with a 100 mm aperture and an 800 mm focal length.   In this doublet design, Takahashi has paired the fluorite element with a low dispersion glass having a high refractive index.  This combination provides excellent optical performance across the entire visible spectrum with a Strehl ratio in excess of 97.6% across this range.  In addition, to satisfy the increasing demands of today’s imaging system, this glass combination minimizes the blue halo sometimes present at shorter wavelengths.  This halo intensity is reduced by about 50% when compared to the existing FC-100D.
The FC-100DZ is fully compatible with the accessories available used with the existing FC-100 telescopes, including the FC/FS Muli-flattener and the FC-35 0.66X Reducer.  With FC-35 reducer, this telescope becomes an excellent imaging system, illuminating a full frame chip at f/5.3.
Mechanically, the FC-100DZ has a tube diameter of 95 mm and a retractable dew shield.  With the dew shield retracted and accessories removed, the total length is only 595 mm, easily carried on most commercial flights.  The FC-100DZ utilizes the same focuser used on the FC-100DF and DL and weighs approximately 3.8 kg.

Takahashi America: The TOA series is a member of Takahashi’s line of triplet refractors.  In the TOA design, three lens elements are used, with the front and rear constructed from ED glass.  The resulting system achieves a high level of apochromatic performance for both visual observation and imaging.  Takahashi engineers have a undertaken a complete redesign of the triplet system, completely eliminating spherical aberration while minimizing axial chromatic aberration in the visible light spectrum.

In typical apochromatic designs, the elimination of chromatic aberration is usually at the expense of increasing spherical aberration at various wavelengths.  However, with the TOA series, the focal shift across the entire visible spectrum from 436 nm up to 656 nm is less than +/- 0.01 mm.  This is less than 1/100 the aberration of a typical apochromatic design.

    TOA-130NS

The TOA-130NS is a 130 mm apochromatic f/7.7 refractor with a focal length of 1000 mm.  It features a retractable lens hood and 2.7 inch rack and pinion focuser.  A complete line of flatteners, reducers and extenders are available, including the 67-series flattener, which provides a 90 mm imaging circle.

With the dedicated C0.72X reducer, the FS-60CB is converted to an f/4.2 instrument.  The combination results in a 40 mm diameter image circle with 60% illumination across the entire field. Illumination is maintained at 95% or more out to a 25 mm diameter, and is 72% illuminated out to a diameter of 35 mm.

With the dedicated FS-60 flattener, the resulting field flatness is greatly improved out to the four corners of a full frame DSLR sensor.  The resulting combination is an f/6.2, 374 mm instrument with an image circle diameter of 44 mm.

    FS-60Q

By attaching the Extender-CQ1.7X, the FS-60CB is converted into an FS-60Q, a 600 mm f/10 telescope consisting of one fluorite element, with a flat field across the image circle.

Takahashi America: The TSA series is a member of Takahashi’s line of triplet refractors.  In the TSA design, an ED glass lens is placed between two lenses, with air spacing in between.  The resulting system achieves a high level of apochromatic performance for both visual observation and imaging.

    TSA-120

The TSA-120 is a 120 mm apochromatic f/7.5 refractor with a focal length of 900 mm.  It features a retractable lens hood and a 2.7 inch rack and pinion focuser.  The TSA is compatible with several flatteners, reducers and extenders, including the TOA-35 Reducer, which converts the telescope to a f/5.3 imaging platform with a 44 mm image circle.

Optical Tube Assembly only (mount, tripod, tube holder and finder sold separately).
