  1. I'm actually having this same exact problem. I've tried two differnet usb cords, 3 ft long each. Same issue. Tried both drivers since I'm not sure about firmware. Windows 10. Connected yesterday just fine and ran a test exposure. Tried it with no memory card as well. No luck yet.
  2. So I checked a few things, I didn't have any trouble with BYN with my Nikon, which I thought was strange. Then I checked into which programs have access through windows firewall and one checkbox was missing on one of the 4 "Binary Rivers" programs so I checked it as well. Nothing changed until I restarted the program. Meanwhile I moved or deleted 100GB off my computer as well thinking I had filled it up and maybe causing slow downs. Anyhow! ...... Glad you were able to help sir! Even though Im computer illiterate windows 10 helps me find things using the search bar! Your suggestions speeded things along. Thanks Abraham
  3. I've been using a Dell 3520 with 8G Ram 500 GB HD 7200RPM with about 50 GB free, usb 2, quad core i3 processor for image capture these last several years without too many issues. Now a major slow down in downloading images from BYE. Writing to the SD card only seems ok but aborts take minutes and so do any images that I want to write to PC. The only change is a major windows 10 update a few days ago requiring several restarts. My usb cords are usb 2 compliant no hubs and less than 10 feet long. I tried two differnet ones and both work the same. No other programs running in task bar, only windows firewall for virus protection and whatever virus definition are in win 10. I defragmented and scanned the hard drive a few weeks back, looks good. Could this computer just be getting old? Would a BYE events log help here? I'm not a computer Guru I just know the basics. Thanks everyone.
  4. Thanks guys this does make sense. I have the necessary OAG and longer guide scope, will have to try with those. I love my carbon fiber C11XLT and I use a starizona .63x reducer and I see others with excellent results , I need to keep playing with it. Meanwhile I have a C11HD and a hyperstar system also waiting for my skills to catch up, I would like to own a mach 1 some day. I should take a break and go back to my SV refractors. Yes 730mm.
  5. That's true and yes I usually use a 50mm guider , I guess I've worked myself pretty hard without perfecting the guiding on my C11XLT, and in fact had better results unguided. But I was also fighting my NEQ6 , focus sag, collimation, a NEQ6 is probably not enough mount for a C11 imaging, but anyway yes I can guide and am hoping dropping to 700mm will be easy as pie. One good reason to guide even short subs would be to keep the object from drifting away and then have to stop and put the object back in the center of the FOV despite a great PA..... That's why I need to learn plate solving, it's hard over shooting an obect and then using the hand paddle to recenter when right is down and left is up......I've wasted hrs there.... Everything is harder at 2000 mm. Once I need to guide longer than a few min I'll go in that direction. How will I know if I'm dithing 8-10 pixels?
  6. If dithering without guiding is too aggressive with the ascom driver perhaps I can guide using phd or meta guide using very weak settings or disable guide output settings?? The reason being that I've never perfected guiding. Someday I will when I need to guide longer than a few minutes.
  7. I find that with my light pollution I cant image longer than 2 min. With BYN and sharpcap or pole master I find that I can image without guiding. One less thing which I was bad at anyway. I have two SV105T's and two D5300's can they be dithered without guiding and would it still require Phd2 to dither without guiding? Thanks
  8. This happened to me in a forest in the middle of Minnesota, Luckily I had the Key!
  9. Can the premium version of BYN do two cameras with dithering? Im using two D5300 cameras. If not, what's the work around with a Y splitter or tether ?? Thanks Abraham
  10. I connected two cameras last night. Ran through 20-30 darks on each camera without problems using dual camera mode.... it was seamless and sublime!... Ive not gotten back to canon yet but will give them some more info. I still need to test the canon utility. I am worried about the difficulty in running two cameras having limited knowledge about stacking and aligning the images. Ive only used DSS for stacking which anyone can do. I am worried about having to crop my photos if the two cameras are not aligned. I guess I'll try in the daytime first. Also, I noticed Majic Lantern on one of the scan disk SD cards that came with one of the cameras. I dont see myself using it but could this have caused a conflict with BYE?
  11. I think my imaging needs are going to move to using two wide field SV80ED's with .8 Focal reducers/field flatteners, stacked on a NEQ6 with a DSI 2 50mm guider. Looking to not reinvent the wheel with regards to framing and focusing two cameras using BYE premium edition. Can two telescopes be aimed at the same thing or at least close when just stacking the scope rings on each other with a dovetail between them? Will they be automatically looking at the same object? Having to image from a red zone means I need more subs and imaging at F5 wide field with two cameras seems to be the way to go to keep more subs and minimize tracking errors. How is dithering affected by using two cameras? Does BYE account for this? Any ideas or links disscussing this is appricated. Abraham
  12. Thanks Astroman! Ive actually never seen this window when using BYEOS. However Ive only been using BYEOS version of 2 years ago and have never upgraded until a few days ago to the premium version.... Is this a window on the back of the camera or will this pop up on my computer? Sorry for the newbie question. Abraham
  13. So since this does not happen on every outing in the middle of the night I may not be able to replicate this error soon but here is what I do know: 1. This problem exists accross more than one USB cord. 2. Im running windows 8.1 2.3 gigherz DELL 3520 laptop with 500GB HD and 8 Gig RAM 3. Canon (T4i) Camera firmware 1.0.4 I dont know the SDK version ...how would I find that? BYEOS version has now been upgraded to premium for running two cameras!! . I have not tested it yet. 4. I dont know enough about computers to know if I have admin privileges but I can look that up and see whats up. Typically my photos are downloaded into my BYEOS picture file in my photos. So if I didn't have admin privileges I wouldn't be able to get any of the photos at all. 5. I can run the canon utility and see if that functions ok. I dont believe I ever installed it but I can check on that and remove it if necessary. I really do appreciate the support im getting here and at canon too. Like Ive said this problem is not severe but has happened at least 4-5 times in about two dozen imagining runs over the last 15 months or so. I was also using an older version of BYEOS not the new one. Thanks! Abraham
  14. I think Im beginning to understand now regarding what SDK is, Thanks for your guys help. It may be awhile before I know exactly whats happening though. For now, here is their last response which is similar to what Astroman133 stated. (canon representative) I would like to get a little more information from you regarding your camera and your computer. I want to make sure that this is not a problem with the camera. What model of camera do you have? What operating system are you using? Are you able to download images and save them to the computer using the EOS Utility software that came with the camera? If so, then the camera is just fine. The error would then be isolated to the software or its settings on your computer. What location is this "Backyard EOS" software attempting to save to? Does the folder exist? Is it a folder that is on a drive in the computer (a "local" drive), or is the folder on a network drive? Do you have write permissions to this folder? If you're on Windows 8 or 10, what happens if you right click the shortcut for the software, and select the option to run it in "compatibility mode" for an older version of Windows, or select the option to run it as an administrator? I look forward to your reply with the information I've requested. Thank you for choosing Canon. 15. Another canon reply after I asked them if they will offer any help at all with an SDK error which I still don't know what SDK means..LOL Dear Abraham Shadbeh, Thank you for taking the time to reply. Backyard EOS is not a Canon application. The Canon SDK was used to create it, but you would need to contact the publishers of that software in order to get support. Thank you for choosing Canon. Sincerely, Trevis Technical Support Representative Dear Abraham Shadbeh, Here is Canon's response.....they basically told me to search the web if this keeps happening. What am I missing here?? Canon doesn't support firmware sold with the camera? Thank you for contacting Canon product support regarding the difficulty you've encountered with the Canon Software Developer's Kit (SDK) for your Canon camera. I can understand the frustration this can cause and I'm happy to assist you. Assistance with the SDKs is limited to the examples in the library at the SDK site. Because we receive no training for the Canon SDK, we are unable to offer support for them. I'm very sorry for the difficulty this causes. Having said that, you may want to perform an internet search for "Canon SDK forum", or something similar. You may be able to find the answers you're seeking. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance. Thank you for choosing Canon. Sincerely, Richard Technical Support Representative Email is not a secure form of communication. 16. Guylain, Would a firmware update on my EOS help with the SDK error? Or a possibility the firmware is corrupt? Current version is 1.0.4. I don't see a newer one. Thanks Abraham
  17. I upgraded to the premuim edition just for fun, Im thinking of running two DSLRs for twice the capture of the same target. I just need a 2nd refractor. I have three DSLRs is this possible with BYEOS? Thanks Abraham
  18. I'll keep ya posted after taking care of the suggestions so far.....its not that big of a problem. Thanks again! Abraham
  19. Also, does this explain being ready to press the capture button and not being able to select it? I suppose I should upgrade the version of BYEOS and go from there. Abraham
  20. Ok I will try this. Thank you for looking into it so quickly especially on the weekend here. Is there any recommendations when leaving an SD card in or changing batteries? Just press disconnect before performing the activity? Would a software upgrade for my camera help if there is such a thing from canon? Thanks Abraham
  21. And no the images were not in the temp file. There were old images in there though just not from last night. Abraham
  22. Thanks Guys, Sorry about the Cloudy Nights issues. In general BYEOS is a great program which I'll mention and which is why I want to keep using it. This problem only burned up 10 or 15 minutes of my time but I dont want it to happen again. Im using a Dell 3520 laptop, 2.3 gighertz 8 gig RAM plenty of storage space. Batteries fully charged and using AC power. Log Files sent as requested, hope theres some info to help diagnose this. Thanks so much. Abraham
  23. After freezing my butt off all night till three am I may have about 20 minutes worth of the horse head. I kept having to restart BYEOS. I noticed my photos were not being downloaded. The camera would be running and counting down and I would hear the finished chime but the photos would not pile up as thumbnails at the bottom of the screen. No photo displayed at all!! In addition, every now and again I would frame and focus and move over to imaging, set my length and ISO but then notice the start capture button is not highlighted and I can't click it. I'm stuck sitting there. Does this have something to do with keeping an SD card in the camera or the battery being low? Restarting BYEOS helps which is really weird. Thanks everyone. Abraham p.s. I posted this in cloudy nights as well (full disclosure ;-) )
  24. My screen resolution is at its highest 1366 x 768. I have had some issues with the graphics card displaying things. A warning appears in my screen resolution setting saying my resolution is below 1200x900 and that things may not display correctly. Any ideas? Perhaps I should contact the graphics card maker and ask for updated drivers.
