mgresh

Question

I just downloaded and installed BYE but when I run the program I get " an unhandled error has occurred" An error occurred loading a configuration file:  Access to the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\BackyardEOSv3.1\bhroustc.tmp' is denied.  (C:\Program files (x86)\BackyardEOSv3.1\BinaryRivers.BackyardEOS.Start.Camera1.exe.user config)  What do I need to do to remedy the problem please.

Reinstalled in a different folder, same result.  Uninstalled program and downloaded program a second time, did a fresh install, same result.  (different tmp file name in error box each time).  RED runs OK.  WIN 8.1. Need additional help.

I think that the issue is why is a .tmp file in the Program Files folder?  Access to those "system" folders is restricted and the delete warning may be Windows designed behavior.

That said, nobody else has reported this behavior. That would tend to indicate that it is something that you are doing that is unique.

What folder are you downloading the BYE setup program to and installing it from? Hopefully not under C:\Program Files (x86).

It WAS installed under C:\Program Files(x86) because that was the default location during installation.  Installed under C:\ and works fine.  Many thanks!

Glad it worked... but this means you have something odd with your local security policy on your computer because Windows is suppose to grant admin privileges to the installer.

Regards,

I am glad that you got BYE installed, but my question was not where it was installed to, but what folder the setup program was in when you started the installation.  BYE SHOULD be installed under C:\Program Files (x86), not C:\, so Guylain is correct that there seem to be some non-standard permissions/security on Program Files (x86)!

My mistake.  The setup file was downloaded to C:\user\MG\downloads.  The setup file was executed from that location and installed to C:\ ProgramFiles(x86) (Where it produced the error when the program was started).  It was then installed to C:\ BackyardEOSv3.1 where it works.
