Nikon D5200 cable connection

Simple solution?  Which interconnection jack is to be used for camera control-----   A/V out or GPS?  I assume A/V Out  --- but does not allow connection.

Am using Windows 7 on my Mac.

None, all you need with the D5200 is the USB cable that came with your camera

Plug the USB cable into the A/V Out jack.

Thanks for your confirmation re A/V Out. 

Still cannot make connection to Backyard Nikon program, so I guess my solution is elsewhere?

Does the Mac recognize that the camera is connected?  If so, does Windows recognize that the camera is connected?

I believe I've solved the problem----not sure exactly how, but I am now able to connect. What a relief!  That "camera not found" buzzing was driving me nuts!

During initialization, there is one screen message asking to choose which connection you want the camera to connect to----either to my Mac or to Windows 7. Perhaps I was choosing the wrong one before.

Hey----it works. Now to learn how to use it effectively.
