D5100 Liveview won't stay on

fetoma

Question

Using my D5100 for the first time. Connecting to BYN just fine using the USB and DSUSB module. Using frame and focus, the liveview is not working. When activating it through the liveview button, it opens and closes the shutter every time. Shutter never stays open to focus.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Frank

When using BYN (or BYE - same functionality), one doesn't "Turn LiveView On/Off" using the Camera's LiveView Button.  Rather, one allows BYN to manage the LiveView Control via Commands sent thru the SDK across the USB Cable.

You are using 2x USB Cables (one to the Camera's USB Port and one to the DSUSB's Port)??

Are you pausing live view by any chance in BYN?

This looks to me like live view may be deactivated in your camera menu.  Check your in-camera menu to see if there is an option to enable/disable live view.

I have 2 D5100 and both are working with live view so I'm 99.9% sure this is a camera setting.

Keep us posted.

It's working now. I removed the AC adapter and put in a fully charged battery, turned it on, and wallah! I removed the battery and attached the AC adapter again. Worked perfect. I don't know what happened, but what I do know is that it wasn't BYN. Maybe this thread will help someone else.
