Camera connected, no image.

Question

Hello,

After connecting my camera, I noticed the camera settings area was empty except for power supply, white, and Image unknown as well as no image being shown.  I had a 50mm lens on to try it out, like I had seen in a few YouTube videos.  I tried three different cables with the same results. Camera would connect, show the same settings, but no image and no other settings appeared(M,Bulb,Fstop,ISO, etc.)  I changed camera communication settings from PTP/Print to PC and wasn't able to connect at all, so it wasn't that.  I've included a screen grab.  Please let me know what I'm doing wrong, or what I can do to fix the issue.  Thank you

The XT is a very old DIGIC II camera. Canon dropped support for it years ago. BYE tries to support it, but only with a 32-bit version of Windows and a Canon-supplied low level driver. It does not have LiveView for frame and focus and you need a 2nd cable to do BULB exposures, where the shutter is controlled by BYE.

I see from your screenshot that you have Cable support set to Camera USB, but your capture plan is taking a 1 second BULB exposure. That will not work with your camera because the camera does not support BULB over USB.

Some of the settings may not be available to display in the Camera Information Center until BYE has downloaded an image.

Try selecting a Tv exposure from the Shutter dropdown control...anything but BULB.

You choose the "Canon" drivers when you connected your camera despite the message saying you need to choose the Canon2015 drivers for older camera, including the 350D.  Please choose the correct drivers in BYE when connecting your camera. As pointed above, the 350D is an old camera with no live view, and it is unable to take BULB images with regular USB cable, you will need a serial cable if you want to take pictures over 30 seconds.
