BYE not saving images to laptop

dalas777

Question

Hi I'm Chris from Greece

I have the trial version of BYE so i can decide first if it suits me and so far everything is great, except that it doesn't save the images to my laptop. I have looked in the Temp folder, the BackyardEOS folder, the folder that i created on my HDD hard drive(which i enabled administration and writing rights) and so far nothing. It does save them in the camera though but this is not so comfy cause i can't display them live.I've seen some previous posts about the issue and so far no solution has come up for me. I use the canon eos 70D and BYE 3.2 version. thanks a lot

Chris,

This is reported occasionally by new users and has been solved several times in the past.

The most common reasons that the images are not saved to the PC that is running BYE are 1) you have not told BYE to save them to the PC, 2) the BackyardTEMP folder location as defined in the Image Capture area of the Settings dialog is invalid or is not a local, always available, and existing hard drive folder, and 3) your anti-virus software is blocking the image downloads.

Assuming that you have confirmed that the image SaveTo location is PC then it is worthwhile to verify that the BackyardTemp folder is correctly assigned to a local drive (not a network or cloud drive), that the folder exists and that the user that is running BYE has full access to that folder.

If all of the above has been confirmed and the problem still exists then I would suggest temporarily disabling your anti-virus software and try capturing images with BYE. If that works then you need to figure out how to whitelist BYE in your ant-virus software to allow the downloads. This is particularly true for the Avast anti-virus software.

Please don't post a sequence of images like this in the future, cloud space is expensive, and it is not needed to resolve any issues. This said, I'm glad you were able to solve your issue. You need to enable Exif Read from the advance settings to get the sensor temperature.

Also, I did not understand the point that you were trying to make with the screenshots. The quality was so poor that the small text was not readable.

Log files are storec in the Logs subfolder in the directory that you specify in the BackyardTEMP text box on the Settings dialog. They are segregated by date.
