Help. License Validation Error!

rob

Question

Hi. I down loaded the trial version of BYE 3.1.2 last night.  When I tried to validate it later that night I got the error message "License validation error! Key Length invalid.  Can you help me validate the software.

I was able to register the software with my code when I entered the dashes " -".

Now unfortunately the software is not working with my 64bit Windows 7 operation system.  I have a Cannon T5i which is listed to work with 64 bit Windows 7, so I'm not sure what the problem is?  Any advice would be appreciated.

Can you please start a new thread with your second issue as it is not related to the title of this post, this will make it easier for others in the future with similar issues without diluting the conversation.

Also, please provide more information when you say not working.  I have no clue if the application is not working, if the camera is not working, if the application is working but the camera will not connect,.. etc...

Regards,

Rob,

When you re-post your issue in a new thread, please provide as much information about what "not working" means.  We are not looking over your shoulder, so we only know what you tell us.  Providing more detailed information will eliminate obvious issues like, is the camera connected to the PC or is it powered on.

Typical info would include windows version, camera model, BYE version, has your setup ever worked, what has changed, what you do to cause the issue, can you re-create it by doing a specific set of operations, what do you see.  Please provide as much detail as you can.  The better your description of the problem, the more quickly others can suggest troubleshooting steps.

BTW, I also have a T5i and my PC is running Win 7 x64 Home Premium.  I have no issues with this configuration, whether connected via the Canon-supplied USB cable or a generic USB cable with active extension cable.

Another thing that occurred to me...Do you have the EOS Utility installed?  If so, does your T5i work with it?  Also, if EOS Utility is installed, it may be starting automatically when Windows first recognizes your camera. This is an unfortunate decision that Canon has made...In order for BYE to connect with your camera, EOS Utility must be complete shutdown (or perhaps configured to not start up to begin with).

The key length invalid error is very specific.  It means you did not enter your full 41 character (including dashes).

A few people have made the mistake of entering their web site account validation code (when creating an account here on the web site) thinking it was the software key when if fact that code is only to validate your email associated to your web account.  I suspect this may be the cause.

Make sure you enter the activation code found in your " client area " of this site (upper right corner).

Keep me posted.
