Crop Movie Mode

s3igell

Question

From your 2nd Video Presentation, you make reference to some purported Issue with Canon Crop Movie Modes attributed to Jerry Lodriguss - something about "Canon doing unwanted Processing of Pixels in Crop Movie Mode that it doesn't in 5x LiveView Mode"...

Can you elaborate??  Or point to where Jerry discussed this Issue??

I have both T2i and 60D - the two DSLRs which actually have the Crop Movie Mode - and am quite interested to hear the details...

OK, it's as I thought...

Those "Unwanted processing" comments are specifically related to the HD Movie Modes - where the Camera is Interpolating the Full Sensor Image down to 1920x1080x24p or 1280x720x30p or 640x320x30p.

This has Nothing to do with the Crop Movie Mode - which is even true-er 1:1 Pixel Ratio than 5xLiveView...

Too bad for Planetary Imaging that this Crop Movie Mode was only available on 2 models - 550D and 60D/60Da...

But, then, the advantage of seeing the 5xLiveView Planetary Image on the Laptop LCD is quite an incentive for BYE/BYN...
