Does the PC that you are running BYN on have an active Internet connection? For the Trial license, you must have access to the Internet to validate your license each time you start the program. This requirement goes away with a paid permanent license.

yep it certainly does

I have the Premium version and I have previously validated my licence. Last night when I attempted to open BYEOS, it gave a similar message as above and wouldn't accept my validation id, even though it was correct. This issue coincided with two things - the O'telescope website was down for  maintenance, and we had some gloriously clear skies here in Manchester, England...

I ended up having to use a trial version of APT which I just can't seem to get along with. When the website was back up, I was able to open BYE without any issue or need to re-validate. I hadn't thought to go 'offline' to see if this made a difference but it would be nice to hear an official explanation for what the problem was?

Thanks in advance :-)

Andy.

Clear skies to you all.

andyuk71,

Premium is not the version, it is the license type. The version is a multi-part number, like 3.2.2.

What version of BYE are you running? Are you sure that you were not still using the Trial license? You need to replace the Trial license key with the purchased Premium license key.

Clear skies to you all.

Please start a thread, you are posting on a thread that has a different issue to your I believe.  Let's keep the threads focused, otherwise it is difficult to follow.

This is the message i get

Are you sure you are using your key ending with 32647 and not an old expired trial key?

EDIT: I just tried your key ending with 32647, and it validated just fine here.

Keep us posted please.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I was running version 3.2.1 when it happened but have now upgraded. I am using the Premium licence key and was at the time. As I say, it coincided with otelescope being off line. I've had no further issues since but it was very frustrating at the time.

Thanks.

Apologies if you consider I was posting on the wrong thread. The thread was titled Program Not Validated. I too was getting this message. I'm not sure then exactly how it was the wrong thread?

The original issue was that the user's Trial license would not validate. This was apparently due to an expired license key.

Your issue was with a Premium license that should only need to be validated 1 time. In a post in the BYE forum the exact same issue as you were having was also reported during the web site outage. Admin's reported that this issue occurred due to a program bug.

So two different issues with similar symptoms, but different causes. In the future, when in doubt, please create a new post.

Thanks!

Thanks for clearing it up, and I'll endeavour to post in the correct place in future.

Andy.
