Bug In 3.1 With 6D

Xplode

Question

I tried 3.1 for the first time today with my 6D and found some bugs, unfortunately i forgot to bring back the log file from my observatory so i will try to explain and maybe someone else can test their 6D too?

First there were a bunch of messages when i opened BYE, probably around 10 all saying the same. Don't remember what it said, butt maybe something about unsupported feature?

Under shutter i only see BULB, AV-Flat and Program. No 1/10, 1/8, 1/6 etc can be chosen.

Buffer doesn't seem to be used, an image is downloaded before the next one is taken. Earlier i could have at least 20 images in the buffer.

I will post the log tomorrow.

No mush I can do without the actual logfile but it seems like your cache if corrupted.

Go to "My Pictures\BackyardTEMP\" and delete the cache folder.  Then make sure your camera dial is set to "M" when you start BYE the next time, this will rebuild the cache and your TV values should be there.

Buffer is not used/implemented for any models, this is by design.

Thank you.

I will try to delete the cache folder.

Buffer has worked before when taking flats, i could take 20-30 images that slowly downloaded after all images were taken. It really helped save time on a slow computer with 1 image taking 15-20sec to download. I could go back to taking lights before they had all downloaded.

Edit: I think i understand what's happening with what i think is the buffer. The image is downloaded fast, but computer is slow and puts it in a queue to be processed before it can be viewed in BYE.

With 3.1 all images are downloaded and then put in a queue for processing (loading the image, creating the histogram, read/write the exifdata, rename image file, etc...).

BUT, as soon as the image is downloaded and put in the queue the next image is taken and the cycle begins again so minimal time is spent between shutter actuation.  It is very possible that the number of images in the queue increases as you take several images.... but like you observed, they will all be processed in time and there will all show up in your download folder.

It takes on average 10 to 20 seconds per image to be processed in the queue, this is because there is a lot do to per images and it runs on a very, very low priority thread to make sure the UI has maximum CPU cycles for enhanced user experience... otherwise the UI could be sluggish on older computer and worst the BULB end command could be delayed by a few seconds because the computer is too busy processing the image instead of processing the camera command... with the queue all of this is mitigated.

Hope this all makes sense.
