3.12 Stops reponding

StarmanStew

Question

Hello,

I've been using 3.1.12 without issue but lately the program stops responding.   I'm taking an image, say 120sec and before it finishes the counter stops in BYE (but is still counting on the Canon T5i).  I can't do anything but wait for the Windows to say it's stopped responding and close the program.  I've tried upgrading to 3.1.18 but when I try to connect the camera it does not show any camera selections.  I would like to use the 3.1.18 version to see if it resolves the issue but can't connect the camera.... any suggestions?

If I click on settings I get a Win error

What is the upgrade cost to 3.2?

Regards,

Stew

There is no $$$ cost to upgrade to 3.2, unless you decide that you want to upgrade from a Classic to a Premium license.

Software does not "go bad". Are you sure that your cables are not causing loss of communication with the camera? Cables do go bad or wear out, and start causing intermittent failures.

That looks like a bad app install.  If this has been working until now... and you suddenly get this then something has changed on your system... but what.

I would do a fresh install and see if this fixes it.  You may have/want to re-install in a new folder just to make sure there are no residual effect from your current install.

Hello,

I agree that something has changed on my system, perhaps a Win10 update has caused issues.  I uninstalled the app, removed the 3.1 directory and installed 3.1.8 with the same issue where the exposure starts counting then stops.  I have to use the task manager to kill the process.  I've changed cables and I can run the camera from other apps.

I installed 3.2.1, when launched it asks for the code and name, which I copy and paste from my purchases (Premium), or type in but it does not accept it.

Next steps please

Regards,

Stew

removed the software, reinstalled 3.2.1 and installed in a new directory BackyardEOSv3.2.1

Launched and presented with the software license box, I enter the code and Identifier but the box remains, it does not close and complete the startup.

However 3.1.8 installed and seems ok, I'll see if I can get some time to capture some images over the weekend, if the skys clear up.

Looks like Windows permissions are messed up.  Try the following steps in this post.
