binaryrivers.backyardeos.start has stopped working for Nikon D7500

atamuli

Question

Hello Admin,

My BackyardNIKON crashes frequently with the error "binaryrivers.backyardeos.start has stopped working"

I am running the following setup:

1) Macbook Pro running VMWARE where Windows 7 is hosted.

2) Installed Backyard Nikon, Sharp Pro on Windows 7.

3) TCP Server port configured on Sharpcap pro and BackyardNIKON. Snapshot attached.

4) After 4 successful captures, BackyardNIKON crashes. I have attached the log file for analysis.

5) It is observed that there is no "DEBUG - NIKON EVENT --> OnDeviceOnImageReady(1,type[1]) fired" log on the 5th capture, that is when BackyardNIKON crashes.

I know this has something to do with the setting somewhere but do not know where.

Kindly assist.

Thanks in Advance,

-Abhijit

You have too many variables here for a proper diagnostics.

If the log entry "OnDeviceOnImageReady(1,type[1]) fired" is not present if means the camera is failing to indicate that an image is ready for download after an image has been taken and sadly there is not much anything can be done in this case.

Are you taking both RAW + JPG?  I would recommend only RAW.

Is your camera set to go to sleep after x minute of inactivity?

Is your PC or USB port (or anything in the connection path) set to go to sleep?

Aside from that you need to simplify your setup to properly troubleshoot.  Remove VMWare from your test env and do without that DSLR ASCOM thingy... use exclusively BYN and try again... if it works then work your way up by adding those in the equation.

Hello Admin,

I was able to see many request being sent out from BYN, but there was no response from the D7500. I was using a 15m long USB 2.0 active cable. After using  a cable of under 1 metre, I was able to run BYN without any issue.

After so much of testing, I have logged in and out of VMware more than 10 times. Please revalidate my key, as I am unable to login for the day :-).

Try changing your download folder to be in the Windows virtual C drive rather than on vmware-host. The UNC path is causing BYN to report errors in the log like:

ERROR - Object must be a root directory ("C:\") or a drive letter ("C").

Although I do not know if that is causing your issue since it worked for a few images.

I also wonder whether Windows is going into power saving mode and powering down the USB port.

atamuli,

You appear to have created a new account since your username changed from abhijittamuli. This is frowned upon. Please be aware that:

1) the license keys that have been issued to you are only listed under the account that was used to purchase them.
2) the admins have said that using multiple accounts to get Trial licenses is grounds being banned from the site.
3) there is no need for multiple accounts

I would suggest that you return to using abjihittamuli and abandon atamuli, especially if you have used abjihittamuli to get any license keys. You could probably send a note to support [-at-] otelescope [-dot-] com to delete the account that you want to abandon.
