Add Stellarium to plate solving support

Question

Hi, would it be possible to add Stellarium to the supported planetarium list for ASTAP plate solving please? Stellarium supports ASCOM telescope control natively now so hopefully it could be done .

Running Backyard EOS 3.2.0 with a Canon 600D.

So you are asking if BYE could use Stellarium as the source for read the target RA and Dec to slew and plate solve to?

I don't use Stellarium, but if both Stellarium and BYE can connect to the same telescope, and BYE is configured to use Telescope Direct as the RA/DEC source, then you could slew to a target from Stellarium and plate solve it with ASTAP from BYE. I believe that you can do that today. If your mount driver does not support multiple simultaneous connections, then you could employ a hub like POTH or DeviceHub to overcome that limitation.

So if I am understanding your needs correctly, you can do what you need with the current software...no enhancement necessary.

Hi thanks for the reply. I'll give it a go. I wasn't sure what Telescope Direct was and when I saw CDC in the drop down menu I assumed the planetarium software had to be supported. I'm connecting to a HEQ5 via ASCOM EQMOD and have a few programs connected at the same time so hopefully that'll work.
