Using Nikon 1 v3 with BackyardNIKON

Hello, I am trying to use my Nikon 1 V3 with BackyardNIKON. It connects but images are not being downloaded to the pc and I get a timeout 60sec error. I wonder if you could help me solve the puzzle. My camera firmware is V. 1.10. Should I update it to the latest 1.12?

Did it work before with your 1 V3?

I ask because the log files indicates that the camera is never firing the event that an image is ready for download, and BYE eventually timeout after 60 seconds of waiting.

Thank, you! No, it never worked before. This is the closest I've seen as it is now connecting to the camera. What could be missing? I've used backyardNIKON in the past with a D600 without issues.

The camera is not providing an image, so as far as BYN is concerned it has nothing to download.

Curiously, I can see the image from the camera on frames and focus. I can also capture jpegs on planetary setting. Has anyone reported using the Nikon 1v3 with BackyardNIKON?  By the way, there is a minor error on the message that shows in planetary as it says "BackyardEOS has the ability to write short movies with your digital CanonDSLR" instead of saying BackyardNIKON and NikonDSLR.

Goto settings and set image quality to JPG only, not RAW... and see if the image if the JPG is downloaded.

What do you mean BYN crashes?  From the logfile you provided it is not crashing, it is failing gracefully after waiting 60 seconds for the image to download.

If images don't download the most common cause seems to be that your anti-virus software is blocking the file. Try temporarily disabling your A/V software. If that fixed the issue then you need to find a way for that software to allow BYE to download the image files.

after following your suggestion of setting image to jpeg only it started crashing immediately as I attempted to capture an image.

I don't have an anti-virus. Besides, it works fine with other Nikon cameras, D600 and D750.

Easiest items to check:  Camera is set to Manual Focus; and to Allow Exposure without Lens Attached.

Thank you. It is set to manual focus. I turned everything I could think to manual and it's set to bulb. With so many settings on the camera, I could be missing a setting but I have gone through the menus over and over and can't find anything else to try.

Your previous Log posting indicated you had the Capture Plan set for "Manual" and "1 Second".  Above you indicated Camera set to Bulb.

Try setting the Camera to Manual mode.  Some Cameras actually make a distinction between "M" and "B"; others Don't Care; and still others only have one "Combined Manual" mode.

The camera is set to manual and bulb, I chose 1sec exposure on BYN to test it.
