Looking for lunar imaging advice

Mike

Question

I'm just getting my feet wet with BYE and planetary imaging with my prime focus Canon 60 Da. I'd appreciate any advice on settings in BYE Planetary mode. So far things look pretty good in my moon images, though I need to get Color Temperature figured out. I used the default 0K setting and got a fairly blue Moon, even though it was not a Blue Moon. Any suggestions on what color temperature works well?

I also took a crack at Jupiter during my dusk to dawn imaging session Thursday night. I had the camera set at 100 ISO, but still came up with a wobbly saturated blob. Any suggestions on how to remedy this? Will 60 FPS do the trick?

Thanks for any advice.

Mike

Thanks Guylain, that's just the ticket. By the way I've started watching your Hangout" and it seems excellent. Now with all of this moonlight I'll have time to watch and absorb it. Thanks for the Hangout and the advice.

Place the camera dial to "M", not "B".  THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR PLANETARY otherwise exposure simulation is not active so changing the shutter speed and ISO will have no effect.

Go to Planetary mode in BYE.

Adjust the shutter to something like 1/10th of a second and the ISO to 100.  Adjust those values until you are satisfied with what you see.

Select 1000 frames.

Click record :)
