Live view with Nikon Z50

dave@dave-auld.net

Question

Hi,

Am I supposed to get a live view when connected via USB when I go to the Frame and Focus view? If Play/Pause the Live View button at the bottom right, I still just get a blank image on the main view. I can see the image on the camera itself, but nothing on BYN.

BYN V2.0.11 Premium

Nikon Z50 Firmware 1.1

If I snap image, i get a picture, but then that leads to the memory exception I have also reported.

Thanks,

Dave

Support for the Z50 is new to 2.0.11, so perhaps there are some issues.

What happens if you change the Shutter from BULB to a timed value? Some cameras have separate BULB and Manual settings. Unfortunately this means that you need to switch it to Manual for short exposures and to BULB for longer exposures.

I thought that Face+Tracking was a LiveView autofocus option for Canon cameras. This is a Nikon issue.

LOL, and there I thought I'd beat you to it this time. You are correct, this does not apply to Nikon.

BYN's "video function" does not use any capability that the camera may have to capture video. It uses LiveView to capture individual frames and optionally assemble them into a video file. For this reason if LiveView does not work for Frame & Focus it will not work for Planetary imaging or Drift Align use.
