Question

Hi,

I've been using a D5300 since the middle of last year with BYN, without any problems one night a couple of weeks  ago the camera would not connect, so assuming it was the cable i purchased a new one, two actually, then rented a D800 which worked successfully, as per my last post. Now I'm trying a new D5300 but am having the same problem, very strange, Here's the log entries:

18:54:26  Attempting to connect camera...
18:54:26  Nikon2015/D5300 drivers initialized.
18:54:34  Camera Not Found!  Make sure it's connected to the PC and turned ON :)
18:54:56  Attempting to connect camera...
18:54:57  Nikon2015/D5300 drivers initialized.
18:55:04  Camera Not Found!  Make sure it's connected to the PC and turned ON :)
18:55:41  Attempting to connect camera...
18:55:41  Nikon2015/D5300 drivers initialized.
18:55:49  Camera Not Found!  Make sure it's connected to the PC and turned ON :)
18:57:02  Attempting to connect camera...
18:57:02  Nikon/D5300 drivers initialized.
18:57:10  Camera Not Found!  Make sure it's connected to the PC and turned ON :)

Thanks,

Sunil

Here's the thing the connection to the camera is extremely sensitive so the slightest movement is causing it to disconnect, it's very strange as I've had it work for several months without a problem but now it's come up with both my D5300's, so it's happening almost all the time.  Very frustrating.

Is there an alternative to using a cable? Can the Wi-Fi be used to connect to BYN? That would be so much better.

I don't think that the Nikon SDK supports wireless comms. In any case they would be slower than a wired USB connection and less reliable.

Have you tried connecting the camera and operating BYN on another PC? This could point to the USB port connection on the current PC. How about trying another cable, or another USB port on your existing PC?
