BackyardNikon Setup file will not execute

AndrewArild

Question

Purchased a license for premium BackyardNIKON today, downloaded BackyardNIKON 2.0.10 and saved to a folder on my laptop where I keep my catalog of software and drivers. Tried to run the download and it will not execute. I get an error telling me access is denied. I tried running as administrator, also tried re-downloading and running from the download folder (including as administrator) and it failed with the same error.

Need help getting installed please!

Hi Andrew,

Looks like a permission issue still.  The installer does not require any special privileges to install.  Where are you installing it?  The default folder?

Do you need which "access" is denied?  A folder?  A registry entry?  Does it say?

Have you tried disabling your anti-virus before the install?

Keep us posted.

A Windows access denied error is usually due to 1 of 2 causes. Either you do not have read and execute permission on the file or you are trying to act on a file that is locked by another process.

You could log off and back on again to ensure that no other process has control of the file. You could also look at the permissions to be sure that you have read & execute permission.

You said that "it will not execute". Is it possible that it does execute, but that the installer is failing because it does not have permission to complete the installation?

I was able to successfully install after disabling antivirus. However, upon program launch I received the error in the screen grab attached. I clicked "retry" and the program fatally aborted. I launched it again and did not get the same error. Hopefully it will work okay, I have time in the field scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday November 23rd, and I'd like to move around in the program today to get familiar.
