Narrowband imaging

dts350z

Question

So I'm dipping my toe in the water with narrowband DSLR imaging, H-alpha tonight, and I'm wondering about features that would be handy, such as:

In the histogram center, could the L & RGB buttons instead be a pull down that would let you select:

RGB normal full color

L      RGB together in grayscale

RL    R channel only in grayscale

GL    G channel only in grayscale

BL    B channel only in grayscale

R     Red channel only (will be all red)

G     Green channel only (will be all green)

B     blue channel only (will be all blue)

A side benefit would be less confusion over how the L & RGB buttons work now.

Next, I'm wondering if a "super pixel" mode makes sense as an option in displaying the raw file, vs whatever method dcraw is doing in RC04+? It would probably be faster to load. I guess it would depend on if dcraw even has such a mode.

Lastly, in a perfect world we would throw away the data from two of the three RGB channels before stacking, depending on which narrow band filter one was using, but that may be beyond the scope/possibilities of a camera control program.

all of this would be for DSLRs that haven't been monochrome modified. Just guessing there are far fewer of those than people doing  narrow band with stock or astro spectrum modded DSLRS.
