F/stop not showing or being written to filename

dodgeandburn

Question

Hello,

I'm having trouble with displaying the f/stop. When I launch the app and connect my camera, the current F/stop isn't showing in the box next to the shutter speed. It is also not being written to the image's filename. My camera is a 20D. Any ideas?

Edit: I should also note that otherwise everything works fine and if I load up APT I can see the f/stop displayed there.

Thanks

Are you sure a lens in connected?  The fstop information is only available when a lens is connected.

Yes, a 17-35mm lens is connected and it's currently showing 5.6 on the camera's display. Maybe I should try changing the lens to see if that jolts it to work. I have tried restarting the camera & Windows, too.

Would the camera model be relevant? Or is the SDK the same for all cameras in this regard.

Actually, yes.  This is only for DIGIC 3 and up cameras as far as I know.  BUT, the OP says it is working with APT... so I'm stumped still.

Would the log file show what items are in the f/stop descriptor list?

Yes, there are logged.  But it is based on the same information used to show it in the UI so if the UI does not show them they won't be logged either <_>

I just tried changing lenses and the new 3.1 RC4, but same. APT does show Av correctly and changes as I change it on the camera. DSLR Remote Pro also shows it correctly.

In the log file I see this:

2014-09-02 21:59:24,453 [Main] INFO  - CameraPropertyChangedArgs fired: Av                   = ''

Followed later by:

2014-09-02 21:59:24,515 [Main] INFO  - Registered Property Av                   = 'f/7.1'

Then later again:

2014-09-02 22:00:36,765 [PropertyGet] INFO  - CameraPropertyChangedArgs fired: Av                   = ''2014-09-02 22:00:36,781 [PropertyGet] INFO  - CameraPropertyChangedArgs fired: Av                   = ''

I've attached the full log file. Anything else I can check?

Thanks

Well... I can read the current value but not the list or possible value according to the log file.  Which means it is a bug because one goes with the other.

I'll run a few tests with my 20D and see if I can reproduce.

Thanks for your patience and perseverance.
