Telescope Compatibility

Jonnyboy4222

Question

Last night i purchased the backyardEOS premium edition and am really excited to use it with my canon attached to my telescope.  Without having anything attached yet, I went into the set up telescope part of the program but I did not see my telescope in the list of telescopes.  I have an Orion skyview pro 8 EQ (certainly not an uncommon telescope).  Am I missing something? Or is my telescope somehow not compatible with this program?

Thank you!

Jonny

Jonny,

BYE uses ASCOM to talk to telescopes, filter wheels, and focusers. This means that you must install the ASCOM Platform from the ASCOM web site at https://www.ascom-standards.org. You must also install a driver for each device. ASCOM drivers are sometimes written by the hardware vendors and sometimes by independent software developers.

I am not sure, so hopefully someone else will chime in but many Orion mounts can use the SkyWatcher SynScan driver that is available from the ASCOM web site. It may also be able to use EQMOD and the EQASCOM driver that are available from the EQMOD Project web site.
