FWHM of specific stars, curvature, collimation, etc.

Question

I'm wishing for some of the features of CCDInspector to be in a more affordable program like BYEOS.

It seems like one BYEOS incremental feature add on would be to display FWHM of right clicked stars in the spot histogram?

That way you could look for stars of similar ADU in the corners and check for curvature / good focus at the edges and corners.

In a perfect world we would be able to check curvature, tilt, and collimation, but the above might be a first step.

Another spot histogram feature that would be handy is a Signal to Noise Ratio. Would that be as simple as displaying the mean/stdev?

Lastly, I'm still wanting to drop images into BYEOS, to take advantage of any of the above, when there is no camera connected.

Yes, you can move the zoom box while in Frame & Focus mode to display the FWHM, or other metrics, of LiveView frames or snapped images.

With the Premium version of BYE you can drag and drop images in the image area of the Imaging screen, but the imaging screen does not provide any analysis capabilities other than visual analysis.

BYE is a camera capture program.  This is why it does not do very much without a connected camera.  In its current form it is not intended to be used as an analysis tool, except as needed to support the image capture process.  This is by design.

That is not to say that future versions of BYE, BYN, and BYCCD may not include some analysis features.
