Question

Hi I have watched (twice) your video but cannot find any explanation regarding attaching a focuser and how to use Byeos to control it. Can you advise please. My focuser is a Sesto Senso and my scope is an Explore Scientific 127ar. Thank you in advance.

I believe that the video was recorded before control of ASCOM devices was added to the product.

First, you must have a Premium license for either BYE or BYN (or a Trial license) to unlock the ASCOM features within that program. A Classic BYE or BYN license does not enable the ASCOM control functions.

Of course, in order to use ASCOM to control any device, you must have successfully installed the latest ASCOM Platform and you must install an ASCOM driver for each device. The ASCOM Platform can be downloaded from the ASCOM web site at https://www.ascom-standards.org. Some drivers are available from the ASCOM web site others are available from the manufacturer's web site.

The ASCOM devices area is near the top center of the BYE main window to the right of the Camera Information Center. In the ASCOM area you can choose to control either a mount (telescope), a focuser, or a filter wheel. Below is a screen extract of the ASCOM devices area, with the focuser device selected.

As you can see, the focuser window shows the name of the connected focuser, as well as the current focuser position (25000) and the current temperature (5.0 degC). You can Choose the focuser device, and set the focuser properties with the Focuser Setup button. You can Connect or Disconnect from the focuser. You can use the movement (chevron) buttons at the bottom of the panel to move the focuser inward or outward by varying amounts. And finally you can use the Halt button to stop a move-in-progress.

Hopefully this gives you what you need to know.
