Won't start exposures

richr

Question

Sometimes when I have set everything up--focus, set exp time, f/stop, etc. BYE won't begin exposure sequence when I click "start exposure." Then it gets stuck, and I click "abort" but it doesn't do anything and I have to close BYE and start over. All this time a clock is running in the upper right hand of the screen that is somewhere around 10 minutes but I don't know is being timed. What am I doing wrong?

Did you try re-installing to see it makes a difference?

I did and it works now. Thanks.

I have another issue now: Sometimes I will set BYE to record 20 exposures, and sometimes it will, but other times it will just freeze mid-exposure after doing one or two and not resume until I click the mouse to bring the computer out of screen saver mode. Is this possibly happening because of the screen saver? I was shooting in sub-freezing weather (28-30F) if that makes a difference.

I am connected to a Canon 5dsr and Acer notebook computer with 8 GB RAM and i5 processor. I'm using a TRIPP LITE 6-Feet USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Device Cable A to Micro-B M/M between them.

Not the screen saver, but perhaps your power saving profile is shutting your USB ports down. If so, the issue would tend to occur at about the same point in the capture plan, like after 30 minutes.

In the future, please create a new post for a new issue. It makes it easier for others to search for similar issues to what they are experiencing.

Thanks!

Will do. Sorry 'bout that.

You can set your Power Profile so that the Screen turns Off after X-minutes quiet-time but the PC Sleeps NEVER.  That is what you would prefer for AP Imaging.

Also, make sure that you pursue both PC Sleep and USB Power-down - the former is in Settings but the latter is in an Advanced part of the old Control Panel.
