Has the fingerprint error issue been resolved yet?  I'm still getting this after windows 10 updates.  I did a quick search of the forums and couldn't tell if it had.

Thx,

Scott

It's not an issue, it's how the licensing schema works.  Not ideal but it is there to stay since this is part of the algorithm that detects if the key was copied from one pc to another.

You may find a solution in this old thread -->

If the issue only happens after a Windows 10 update then it could be that Windows is changing the permissions on the AppData folder. There is nothing that BYE can do about this...You should always have full control of that folder tree.

I don't think this is a permission issue since it worked after he enter the key again.  Part of what the algorithm uses is the Windows install folder date/time (this is only 1 property out for 5 or 6 it uses to identify the unique computer).  In the past this folder rarely changed date/time after a Windows update.  This seems to be very frequent in W10 compared to W7/8.

If I were to remove this from the algorithm now ALL KEYS would no longer validate and everyone would need a new key.

Regards,

Thx for the replies. Appreciate the quick response. I think the issue I’m having is the same as this thread:

It’s a couple of years old and I couldn’t find anything related at a later date. The license key is there it just asks for my username. I type it in and all’s well.  Do you have to be connected to the internet to do this verification?  I have been, I was just in my backyard, but if one was remote that could be a problem.

Purchase key do not require Internet access so it would have worked the same without Internet.

If you close BYE and start it again just now.... does ask for the key again?  If yes it's a Windows permission issue... if it doesn't ask you then it was induced by a Windows update.

Sorry, I’m traveling right now so I can’t test that.  But pretty sure it’s an update problem. I’m logged in under the administrator user so I should have all permissions. It works perfectly 99% of the time but after updates BYE gives me the fingerprint error asks for me to enter my username (my license key is already there). I type in my username and all’s well. Although, on the splash screen as BYE starts up it shows my license key with a forward slash 4 appended to the end, “/4” (it’s actually shown slash /2 and /3 after previous times I’ve had to do this).  As long as an Internet connection isn’t required, it’s fine.
