D5100 won’t take photo in Bulb setting

Hello,

I’m new to this forum and I tried to use my Nikon D5100 with BackyardNikon.  The camera connects but I’m unable to take photos using the “Bulb” setting.  It gives me an “Aborting” and “Busy” error messages. Any guidance is greatly appreciated in resolving this.

As per the camera support grid, the D5100 requires a serial cable in addition to the regular USB cable.

The D5100 is not capable of taking bulb images over USB.

Thank you for the info information. I’ll look into adding the serial cable.  Which Nikon models support Bulb imaging through the USB?

You should look at the camera support grid...Follow the link in Guylain's previous post, scroll down and click on the Cameras tab. Those cameras with "Yes (usb)" in the third column support Bulb exposures over USB.
