Crackling sound and connect message

Tsombo

Question

I used BYN on my windows 7 desktop recently and it connected fine to my Nikon d610. I now tried to connect it the same way on a windows 10 laptop and I got the crackling sound and error message about 3 seconds or so after clicking connect. I use a usb extender cable but it was not an issue with my desktop and I have tried without it. I have the 2.0.9 version. Do I need to run in a compatability mode or to do something else? I am sort of out of ideas.

You could certainly try Vista SP2 compatibility mode when you launch BYN, although the camera is not marked as needing compatibility mode.

On your laptop, when the camera is plugged in and powered on, does Windows 10 list the camera in the Device Manager? I would try testing without the extension cable, until you know that the basic configuration works.
