Drift Align does not start - well, LIVE does not really !

Oright

Question

Hi just purchased BYE classic.

I set it up [in settings] and taken a 1s daily shot jut to test it for later on tonight.

I clicked on Drift Align and it seems to slightly freeze and almost nothing happens!

I just notice a windows [under BYE] opens [well its taskbar icon actually - not t he window and I can read on the window icon on taskbar this: FormFullScreenImage not responding.

Sometimes there is no 'not responding' and I can see it gets over that FormFullScreenImage  bit and the Drift Align on right side appears [i.e. it enters Drift Align mode] and I do not see the 'white' image or fullscreen = nothing in Live View [I am in daylight with no lens - just a CLS filter - it is ready to work!] and also no crosshair over-imposed image as well.

Camera is fine and correctly detected as a 100D, nearly new and works in live view either manually or using other free programs!

The problems is, BYE does not start Live View = Drift Align has problems - if I do it manually all seems is fine and crosshair appears, etc..

Do we have to start it manually? If so, that is silly ... I mean ... really!
Is it to do with detection or settings?

Any fast help for tonight? [UK - now is ~ 18:00H]

Regards

PS my computer is 'perfectly' fine - no problems and I only had 4-5 blue screen in 6 years [ due to Chinese non-original external devices and bad drivers!]

Thanks for the log file.

Looks like your camera is not letting the turn on live view command to execute.

2017-08-18 11:36:55,744 [Main] INFO - Running (log): EDSDK.EdsSetPropertyData(this.mCameraRef, EDSDK.PropID_Evf_OutputDevice, 0, 4), (uint)Canon.OutputDeviceENUM.EvfOutputDevice_PC)

2017-08-18 11:36:56,119 [Main] DEBUG - BUSY try #2

Did you disabled live view using the camera menu?  If not it might be a good thing to do a camera factory reset because this is usually a sign of some setting preventing live view.

To answer your upgrade question the cost to upgrade is from Classic to Premium is $20.  Instructions here.

No, the ASCOM implementation in the premium edition will not replace your telescope hand controller.

Hi

I guessed that myself that BYE was not communicating the command- obviously.

But why it does work with free programs?
It has nothing to do with the camera, really!
I never ever had that problem, until I used BYE.

Maybe it is BYE not correctly detecting the Camera, although it states it does - I purchased it in UK, not the US or Canada - just in case there are some differences and has 1.01 Firmware in it.
Believe me if I say the camera is fine, I am an Electronics Technician as well as an amateur astronomer.

Also it is connected directly using the short 1.2m Mini-USB lead - no problems of signal propagation through wires - I had it working on a 10m active USB 3.0 lead - no problems - I actually was surprised that it worked so well - Canon must have a high output signal and a good pre-amplifier in receiving commands.

Regarding the upgrade:

I thought having ONLY purchased it only 20 hours ago, you would offer the $50 Premium rather than ask the $5 more.
Times have certainly changed or should I ask for money back and re-buy it? Obviously not worth the effort for $5

Also, does it mime the SynScan used in EQ6 ?
I use an eldest EQ6 upgraded to latest Synscan.

Thanks guys

It does not matter.  The fact remains that you have activated your classic key.  Also, doing it 2 transactions incurs more bank fees and more accounting; hence the $5 more.

Solved!

Your program needs Canon to set LIVE view to enabled.

I have used this camera for the last year or so with Free program and never had to enable it within the firmware.

Maybe it is a hack they use.

Anyway, done it.

Exactly, that is what I suggested in my previous post when I said you have deactivated live view in your camera :)

Glad it works now.

BYE uses the Canon SDK to communicate with and control the camera. There are other ways/means to communicate with the camera that may allow tethered LiveView to work even when LiveView is turned off in the camera. This could be why the "free" programs that you mention are able to work when BYE does not.
