Another Driver/Connection Question

Blackwatch42nd

Question

I've recently installed 3.1.11 and connected my 60Da.  I've seen in a past post that the "Canon215" driver should be used with the 60Da.  In this recent installation I've tried all three and they all recognize the camera and connect.  I have not run through all the functions, but just wondering if it makes a difference which driver is used if they all connect.

Thanx

John,

The driver selection dialog during the BYE Connection process allows you to choose the appropriate Canon SDK for your camera. With each new version of the SDK Canon typically drops some old cameras and adds new models. It may be that your camera is supported by all 3 versions. The Canon210 option is for the very oldest DIGIC II cameras that Canon dropped from the version 2.15 (CANON215) SDK. One of the SDK releases after 2.15 had some problems so Guylain allowed users to choose version 2.15 to avoid the issues. Canon subsequently  addressed those issues and version 3.6 of the SDK (CANON) supports your camera well. I would suggest that you use CANON. That said, CANON215 also supports your camera. My T5i is almost a year newer than your 60Da and I can also use either SDK.

I am surprised that the CANON210 SDK would connect with your 60Da, but perhaps it was released after your camera was released.

The selection is not a pure science in most cases.

Always try the default first "Canon". If this does not work then you go down from there; "Canon215" and fianlly "Canon210".

Use "Canon (default)" with your 60Da.

Regards,
