Sub-Forums

Question

Does the new Forum's Feature Set include Sub-Forums ??

It seems that the most active Forum (rightly so) will be the BackyardEOS Forum.  Within all that posting activity will be a number of common topics with quite a number of Threads on each subject.  It would seem a good suggestion to implement an organized set of sub-forums to cover major portions of the likely spectrum of BYEOS Topics.  Some amount of structure should be a Good Thing and help users find answers to their questions or hints to questions they don't know exactly how to phrase or weren't aware they should consider.

Just as suggestions:

1) Sub-Forums for the major Functional Blocks of BYEOS

  • Settings
  • Imaging
  • Frame&Focus
  • Video
2) Sub-forums for the major Features of BYEOS

  • Image Exposure Plans
  • Dithering / PHD Connectivity
  • Image Download / Exif Processing / Histogram
  • ASCOM Functional Support
3) Sub-forums for the models of Canon EOS (either by Digic Controller set or groups of Model Numbers) where unique usage or support issues arise

4) Sub-forum for Troubleshooting Techniques and Support Instances and Bug Reports

5) Sub-forum for Feature Requests

6) Sub-forum for Imaging Processes and Equipment and Ancilliary Software

Probably, not all of these would be worthwhile Sub-Forums (at least not until the Forum gains additional traction and activity).  And a few of these might more appropriately be additional main-level Forums of their own (having commonality between BYEOS and BYENIK or having no direct relation to either product).

Forgive me if this is Too Much, but the Yahoo Groups "linear" approach had always chafed a bit compared to the functionality offered by a modern Forum.

It does somewhat, but only 1 level and they are/must all be listed on the main forum list page.  They call it category.

Current I have it setup with 2 categories, they are "Support" and "Soutien français (French support)".

I have bundled BackyardEOS and BackyardNIKON into the same category.  But I can easily create a category for each product and they have it broken down into forums based on application function. That is how I had started out but it felt bulky and decided to start with a very simple linear approach to begin with.

Thank you
