having problem with D5600 hanging

rogertanner

Question

I have been trying to make a series of exposures using the capture plan center. I start with a 1/250 sec exposure and start the capture. The software goes off and doesn't seem to do anything. No shutter clicks, the camera does try and focus, the focus assist light comes on. But then BYN does a download timeout after 119 seconds. I want to use this first for the upcoming solar eclipse. After that I will use it for astrophotography.

For start up I have been connecting the camera, turning it on, waiting for Nikon software to start. Then close that software, (Nikon Transfer 2). Start BYN and it comes up with the capture plan. I connect to the camera D5600 and that completes. After starting the capture, that is when it hangs. I have got it to work once, but not after that. Is there anything else I need to do? Is the Nikon software somehow interfering? (Nikon Transfer 2,  View NX-i, and Capture NX-D).

Just trying to take a single image, it does the same thing, the log file says image download timeout after 119 seconds. It is also curious that it show the time to finish as 19:16?? This for a single 1/250 sec image.

Thank you for the log file.

Looks like you have a lens and it may be set to autofocus... and it can't focus so the picture is never taken... so BYN times out waiting for the image to download.

Turn off auto focus and try again.   Keep us posted.

Okay, if you get a timeout it means the camera has not fired the image ready to download event and BYN is waiting for it and after 2 minutes it times out.

Do you have mirror lock enabled?  If yes disables it.

Are you saving to card and PC?  If yes save to PC only.

Send me the log files and I will take a look.
