Future start timer

pablotwa

Question

Is there anyway to tell BYE to start capturing at a time certain? Example it's 5pm now but I don't want my camera to start capturing till 9PM. Is there a setting available which will allow me to start at 9 PM..(10..whatever later time and then end at a certain time?

Thank you!

No, the "Delay" value is the amount of time to elapse between when you click the Start Capture button and the start of the first exposure. The extra time between exposures is controlled by the "Pause" value, which can be different for each row in the capture plan.

I'll just add that the delay function was added to have a small delay before your capture plan starts taking the fist image once to click start; this is to allow you to walk away from your gear without fear of introducing vibration as you walk away.  It can be used for longer delay for sure but as Rick said it starts the countdown only once you click save.  Not ideal for your use case :(

I have a fully automated roll off roof observatory. It runs on Sequence Generator pro, which I can program to at a specific time unmount the main scope, open the roof ,go to the target, center and capture subs. I have a Canon 7D riding piggyback for widefield astrometry/asteroid  reasons. I need to start capturing at the same time as the main scope.. This MAY be something you MAY want to add..or not ..a future time to start the capture feature.

Best! and thank you for your answers.

PS I could use SGP to run the DSLR..but I like your program a lot..I may however have to use SGP...

Guylain, is BYE "Scriptable-enough" to have BYE "Select a Capture Plan" and "Trigger it to Start"??

The 100 Lines of a Capture Plan is surely enough for Pablo to then use to pursue his Night's Imaging Plan.

(He will encounter difficulties with "Indeterminate-Length" activities such as Slews and Plate-Solves and Dithering when performed by SGP without BYE's "knowledge"...  But a Scripted Start would be "a start"...)
