BYN ASCOM focusser

Question

Hi All,

I am now using the ASCOM-SGL FocusDriver under ASCOM6

The unit is working correct with its own stand allone software, means, I can move the stepper in any direction and with any steps.

When using the unit in BYN 2.0.1 the functionality is disturbed:

- mostly the stepper is not moving by the arrows <<<<< II >>>>>

- mostly the position indicator does not increment / decrement by the correct n° of steps.

- sometimes the moving direction is not as it should be.

Same happens when I use "SGL Focuser Control Absolut" window, that is opened by BYN in the backgrond.

Since I had many stange problems in the past after upgrading to WIN 10 (see my previous postings) my question is, if this falls in the same category.

Any advises?

regards, Willi

This is not a W10 related issue.

But the fact that "SGL Focuser Control Absolut" has the same disturb behavior is a huge clue.  BYN does not move the focuser... it sends a command to the ASCOM driver, the ASCOM driver does the move.  Since the ASCOM driver uses the "SGL Focuser Control Absolut" to move the focuser and this is faulty you will get the same faulty behavior in any application using the ASCOM driver that uses "SGL Focuser Control Absolut".  Hope this makes sense.

The unit is working fine with it's stand alone app is also a huge clue... most stand alone apps that comes with a device user their own native drive to operate the focuser and this is why it is working.... but any other external app using the ASCOM driver goes through the "SGL Focuser Control Absolut" and that has a bug.  I would touch base with the maker of that driver.

Keep us posted,
