Question

says it all. I imaged last night to get used to BYEOS. I love the system and its potential but had issues saving files. I wanted to image the m81 area and did. shot my 10 60 second frames. and when session was finished I couldn't close the file/folder to save and open another folder to image the whirlpool region..  I haven't even begun to discuss the focus and tracking issues. a frustrating first couple nights

What do you mean could not open another folder?

BackyardEOS automatically download all your image files in "My Pictures\BackyardEOS\*" by default.

The target name will also be automatically added to your image file name... NO NEED to open another folder.

Can you please explain in more detail your workflow?

According to your follow up post on CloudyNights it appears to me that your issue is with DSS... but I can not be sure.

Can you please be more specific.  It is difficult to follow your posts in an attempt to understand where your issue really is.

ill try... when I began my session, I labled my session, the exposure length, temp. etc etc.. then began my session.  at the end of the 10x60 sec. I could not figure out how to file the images/close the folder. in order to begin another target folder.  when I went to access my images on my laptop hoping that they were in separate files, they were not in the BYEOS file folder. but just a group of pics on my laptop. im sure its my ignorance. im going to re-read the manual and DSS manual..

First 2 assumptions:

1) You must be using the Imaging screen to run a capture plan (not Frame & Focus)

2) You have set the Save To location (in the Capture Plan Center) to PC or PC+Camera.

If the above options have been set then your images will be somewhere in the Download folder tree which is specified on the Settings screen. Either right in that folder or in a subfolder, depending on which "Sub-folders" option you have selected. I like the "DATE Style" option for sub-folders.

Then, as an example, if my Download folder is set to D:\My Pictures\BackyardEOS and Sub-folders is set to "DATE Style", then images shot tonight (6/7/2014) of the target M51 will be in

D:\My Pictures\BackyardEOS\2014-06-07\M51.

When your capture plan was running, did you see each image displayed as it was downloaded?  You should also see a strip of the thumbnails across the bottom of the BYE window.  If so, then your image is on your PC in the designated location.

When you change targets, you don't have to open or close anything, just modify the capture plan, as necessary, and change the target name before starting the plan.
