fargo1970

Question

Bought Backyard EOS Canon version x 2 days ago and cannot get my pc/backyard EOS to see my canon 1000D. I have checked drivers, settings, USB hub is working on PC. PC is an HP Beats edition running windows 8.1. I have gone to canon and downloaded the utility but nothing is working. Please assist.

This is a driver issue.  The 1000D has been supported since version 1.

Try with EOS Utility first and make it connect with that.  Then and only then try with BYE.  My guess here is that it won;t connect to EOS Utility and this will confirm a Canon/Windows driver issue.  This would need to be address first.

Keep us posted.

Your post said that you just purchased BYE version x. What version is that? If you do not have BYE 3.1.8 installed, then you need to upgrade to it. This is only so we don't spend time troubleshooting an issue that is already fixed in 3.1.8.

First, try connecting the camera to the PC with a short USB cable that is known to be good.

Once connected, power on the camera. Within a few seconds you should hear Windows acknowledge that it recognizes the camera and the camera should be listed in the Device Manager. If you see your camera in the Windows Device Manager then that pretty much says that the camera is connected and the driver is loaded. So you should be able to connect to the camera from the Canon EOS Utility. If the EOS Utility is able to connect with the camera then BYE will also be able to connect, since they both use the Canon SDK for managing the low-level communications. When finished testing the Canon EOS Utility, disconnect it from the camera and exit the EOS Utility.

Next start BYE and select the Canon215 Driver (SDK) version when connecting. Your only issues that would prevent connecting would typically be the cable and.or the kernel mode driver.

Finally, try connecting with your final cabling/hub arrangement. That should work, unless there is a cabling issue (bad cable, cable too long) or a malfunctioning hub.

When I first started using BYE my camera was a 1000D. It is a nice camera.

I have a similar issue to OP's. Same camera, but mine will connect and take pics, but when I try to enter Frame and Focus mode I get a bunch of invalid parameter errors and if I try to close out of BYE it will freeze up on me. I'm using 3.1.8. Just downloaded the program and it's my first time using it.

Please start a new thread, you don't have the same issue.
