Nikon D40 Bulb Mode with DSUSB_D40

Have Nikon D40 set up with serial cable to D40 and Shoe string DSUSB IR with IR sensor velcro taped just below IR sensor. I can achieve connection and fire Nikon D40 (hear shutter click)with IR when non bulb setting is used (<60 seconds), when I select Bulb mode, Shoe string DSUSB shows green light but BYNikon just times out after exposure period with shutter click observed. Can you assist is there some other setting on the camera I need to select. I am on Manual, with cable support to DSUSB-D40.  I notice that when I do not select the remote IR camera setting on the camera the camera shows "bulb" on the screen, but when I select the remote control setting - the camera then displays " - -"

OK found the problem, IR sensor jack plug is very loose in connector cable, one both taped together, connection worked OK
