Trying to connect Trial Version 3.2.1 to my Canon R8

ter7358

Question

I installed the trail version of BYE today and will not connect to my Canon R8.  I found another post on a similar issue and he had to upgrade to Version 3.5.0, which I just read about what was done in that version, it included adding the R8 to the supported cameras.  How can I upgrade my Trial BYE to Version 3.5.0?

I figured that I could do that as well, I downloaded the 3.5 from the pre-release section, but I did not save my licence key (just copied and pasted).  Can I get that key again, or do I just need to install the Free version again?

Trial is your license, not your version.

The version is something like "3.2.3" (the complete version is important) or "3.5.0.RC7 x64". License types are Trial, Classic, and Premium. You can apply any BYE license to any version of BYE that is 3.1.0 or later. I told a small lie here since you must use the latest release or pre-release of BYE with a Trial license.

If you start out with a Trial license and upgrade it to Classic or Premium, you do not need to re-install the BYE application, simply apply your purchased license in the existing software and restart BYE.

I would suggest NOT using the x64 version of BYE since it may impact your ability to use 32-bit ASCOM drivers in BYE.

Your problem may have been that you were trying to use a Trial license with an old version (3.2.1) of BYE. You need the newest version or pre-release for the Trial license.

I recommend that you download version 3.5.0.RC7 from the pre-release area and apply your Trial license to it. Use Copy and Paste to transfer your license key from My Purchases -> Orders on this web site into the BYE license validation dialog.
