BackyardNikon 3.5.0 RC8 x64 no AVI or Planetary recording.

Question

Hello,

I'm currently running BackyardNikon 3.5.0 RC8 x64 with my Nikon Z8, on a Windows 11 laptop.

The problem I am having is that I am unable to utilize planetary record.  Regardless of the setting (AVI, AVI + JPG and JPG) I receive a request for authorization for the AVI encoder.  I select ok and observe a flash of the command window.  That is followed up by the error Backyard is unable to create AVI movies, encoder not found!

I did read through the thread "BackyardEOS 3.5.0 x64 RC7 is unable to create AVI movies" from Aug '24, but did not see any solutions.

Any tips or tricks to fix this would be great.

in the installation folder where you have BacyardNIKON installed (default is C:\Program Files\BackyardNIKONv3.5) locate the "BinaryRivers.AviEncoderProviders.ByteScout.bat" and run it 5 times with the following parameters (5 individual runs)

  1. with /u32
  2. with /u64
  3. with /uWOW32
  4. with /uWOW64
  5. and finally with /r64

if this does not work try this (not only the 5th step is different)

  1. with /u32
  2. with /u64
  3. with /uWOW32
  4. with /uWOW64
  5. and finally with /rWOW64
