First, if your question or issue is relating to the Backyard Nikon application please post to the BackyardNikon Forum, rather than the General Forum. That way your issue will be easier for other BYN and Nikon owners to find.

Second, a new version of BYN, version 3.5.0.RC6 X64, currently available from the Pre-Release Download area of this site, uses a version of the Nikon Software Development Kit that does support the Z9. However, 2 users have reported that they are unable to Connect BYN to their Z9s.

Because BYN uses the Nikon SDK and Nikon only supports the Z9 in the 64-bit version of their SDK, the O'Telescope developers created 64-bit version of BYN (and also BYE). At this point it is not clear to the user community whether the Z9 connection issue is related to user error, a code problem in the new 64-bit version of BYN, or a bug in the Nikon SDK. I am sure that this will get sorted out in the next few months or so. Please be patient.

Please the latest v3.5.0-RC7 pre-release. I made a change in how the camera locates and loads the SDK, I'm hoping this works.

Keep us posted.

Thanks for the info, can I have a link for this release to test?

I downloaded the pre-release but my licence as I never used the program have expired, can I have a new one?

I just archived your trial key.  Go ahead and add it again to your cart and proceed to checkout for a second 30-day trial.

Thanks!

I did it and installed the program without a problem but when I starting it I can't have Live View in Imaging or Frame & Focus...

Do I have to set something for Live View?  I did press the Pause and Play Live View at the bottom right panel...

The program can see my Z9 and I can change settings but only shoot, when in "Imaging", if I set the camera's settings of in the right panel, or I can shoot without me setting the right panel as it reads the camera's settings in the "Frame & Focus" in any case without "Live View"...

I'm including the 5 log files in case it helps...

Best regards Terry

LiveView is never active in Imaging mode. This is by design.

Another Z9 user was using the latest RC  and LiveView would not work for him until he changed one of the settings in BYN. See the thread below for details.

<<<The program can see my Z9 and I can change settings but only shoot, when in "Imaging", if I set the camera's settings of in the right panel, or I can shoot without me setting the right panel as it reads the camera's settings in the "Frame & Focus" in any case without "Live View">>>

Not sure what you mean by this.

What do you mean by "the right panel"? The group of controls in the Capture Plan Center of the Imaging screen is your capture plan. The rows in the capture plan are what BYN will use to set the imaging parameters (exposure duration, ISO, f/stop, and perhaps the shutter speed). They are sent to the camera from BYN to the camera before starting an Imaging exposure. However, when shooting BULB exposures, the opening and closing of the shutter is timed and controlled by BYN. For non-BULB exposures, BYN sends the shutter duration to the camera and the camera controls opening and closing the shutter.

The values in the Camera Information Center (located near the center top part of the Imaging screen) are the latest values that BYN read from the camera.

Go to Settings -> Advance settings and check the checkbox Liveview offset and set the value to 1024 for the Z9. Please let me know if this solves the live view.
